Port Engineer for the safe and efficient operation of machinery and associated equipment on board Company vessels.\nKey Areas of Responsibility:\nResponsible to the Port Engineer or Chief Engineer (if applicable) for the safe and efficient operation of all machinery and associated equipment on board Company vessels.\nEnsure that all work carried out in the engine room and on-board Company vessels is done in a safe and professional manner in compliance with safe-working practices.\nAlways Ensure compliance and adherence with Company PPE policy.\nCompliance with reporting procedures as required by the Port Engineer.\nEnsure all stand-by equipment is always maintained and in a high state of readiness.\nEnsure that engine room logbook is legible, accurate and kept up to date.\nIdentify potential hazards and failures associated with machinery and advise Tug master/Helmsman, and Chief Engineer (if applicable).\nEnsure, in conjunction with Tug master/Helmsman or Chief engineer (if applicable) that the vessel is provided with fuel oil, water, lubricating oils and machinery spare parts.\nMaintain filing system and documentation associated with the engine room department.\nTo take charge of engine room during emergencies, or until relieved by the Chief Engineer (if applicable).\nEnsure that watertight integrity and seaworthiness of the vessel is always maintained.\nPlanning and execution of all maintenance work in conjunction with Port Engineer or Chief Engineer (if applicable).\nMaintain a safe and efficient watch. Ensure that all engine/machinery parameters are normal while working. Any abnormality in sound, temperature, pressure to be reported immediately to the Port Engineer or Chief Engineer (if applicable).\nReport all damages and irregularities to Tug master/Helmsman with immediate follow up report to Port Engineer or Chief Engineer (if applicable).\nCompliance with Company policies regarding HSE, QSMS and Security.\nObserve all Company and National requirements/regulations with respect to environmental protection.\nObey all lawful orders from direct supervisor and/or shore-based management.\nAssist in any other duties as may be reasonably required by the employer from time to time, including but not limited to Maintenance, Pollution Control, General Housekeeping, Etc.\nReport all non-conformities, near-misses, hazardous situations, and whenever possible make suggestions for improvement.\nKnowledge and Qualifications:\nBachelor’s degree Certificate of Education preferred.\nUnderstanding of basic marine mechanics (but not essential as on the job training will be given).\nBasic understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental issues preferred (but not essential as on the job training will be given).\nBuilding a Diverse Workplace\nIn Svitzer we value the diversity of our talent and will always strive to recruit the best person for the job - we value diversity in all its forms, including but not limited to gender, age, nationality, race, sexual orientation, disability, or religious beliefs.
