Our people are at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for a qualified and experienced 1st Class Chief Engineer to join our Marine Operations team at Tanger Med.\nAs Chief Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our harbour tugs. You will be responsible for the vessel's engine room, propulsion systems, machinery and technical equipment, ensuring the tug remains operationally ready and compliant with applicable safety and maritime standards.\nKey Responsibilities\nManage and oversee the safe operation of the engine room and all onboard machinery.\nOperate, monitor and maintain main engines, propulsion systems, generators and auxiliary equipment.\nPlan and perform preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure vessel reliability and availability.\nIdentify, troubleshoot and resolve technical defects and machinery failures.\nMaintain accurate engine-room logs, maintenance records and technical documentation.\nMonitor fuel, lubricants, spare parts and engineering consumables.\nCoordinate maintenance activities with the Tug Master, crew members and shore-based technical teams.\nEnsure machinery and equipment are ready for safe vessel deployment.\nParticipate in safety meetings, drills, toolbox talks and emergency response exercises.\nApply Svitzer's safety procedures, including Stop Work Authority, Take 5 and Proactive Reporting.\nEnsure compliance with company procedures, the Health, Safety and Management System (HMS), and applicable maritime regulations.\nPromote environmental protection and pollution prevention onboard.\nCandidate Requirements\nMoroccan nationality.\nValid 1st Class Chief Engineer Certificate of Competency, in accordance with applicable maritime requirements.\nMinimum 5 years of relevant marine engineering experience, preferably in harbour towage, tug operations or similar marine environments.\nProven experience with marine diesel engines, propulsion systems, generators, hydraulic systems and auxiliary machinery.\nGood knowledge of planned maintenance, troubleshooting and technical documentation.\nValid seafarer's documents and mandatory maritime certificates.\nStrong leadership, problem-solving and decision-making skills.\nExcellent safety awareness and ability to work effectively in a demanding operational environment.\nGood communication and teamwork skills.\nHigh level of professionalism, discipline, reliability and accountability.\nWhy Join Svitzer?\nJoin an international maritime company where safety, people and operational excellence come first.
