Working in the Floating Pool requires crew to work flexibly across any UK port in which we operate. The team work on a 1 or 2 week on/off rotation.\nYour Responsibilities:\nAs a Marine Engineer at SVITZER, you will be the backbone of our vessel operations. This is a sole and hands-on engineering role where you will actively engage in the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of marine equipment and systems, using a range of engineering tools and diagnostic equipment to ensure vessel reliability and performance. Your key responsibilities will include:\nOperational Excellence: Ensure all machinery on board is in top condition and operate it during vessel operations.\n\nSafety First: Maintain the safe operation of vessels, engines, generators, and associated machinery.\n\nMeticulous Maintenance: Keep all machinery (deck and engine) up to operational standards at all times.\n\nOwnership and Cleanliness: Take pride in the vessel's machinery spaces, ensuring they are clean, tidy, and hazard-free.\n\nProactive Reporting: Communicate any breakdowns or faults to the Master and Superintendent Engineer, coordinating repairs efficiently.\n\nRoutine Upkeep: Perform routine maintenance and ensure the Planned Maintenance System is executed flawlessly.\n\nResource Management: Maintain adequate supplies of lube oils and bunkers for continuous operations.\n\nHealth & Safety Compliance: Conduct regular checks and address or report any issues promptly.\n\nRegulatory Adherence: Follow all company, MCA, and external body guidelines, keeping paperwork accurate and up to date.\n\nTeam Leadership: Supervise and train engineering staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient team environment.\n\nSurvey Coordination: Assist in dry-docking and survey planning, ensuring timely and orderly completion of all work.\n\nDefect Management: Advise the Master on defects, maintain a defect log, and prioritise repairs with the Superintendent.\n\nInter-Departmental Collaboration: Work closely with your team, embracing both deck and engine roles.\n\nContinuous Improvement: Engage in mandatory and professional development training.\n\nAdaptability: Take on additional duties as needed, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness.\n\nWhat We're Looking For:\nMinimum STCW III/1 Engineer Officer of the Watch (EOOW) Small Vessel \n\nAll STCW basic training in date\n\nENG1 Medical with at least 6 months until expiry\n\nFull UK Driving Licence\n\nCareer minded and wanting to progress up to becoming a Chief Engineer\n\nStrong analytical skills and the ability to produce detailed, accurate reports\n\nExpertise in fault diagnosis and machinery repair\n\nPreferably experienced in harbour or terminal towage\n\nSome deck experience would be advantageous\n\nStrong administrative and computer skills\n\nExcellent communication skills\n\nBenefits\nSalaires starting from £54,605.71 per annum\n\nCompany-sponsored training and certification\n\nPension scheme\n\nLife insurance and healthcare options\n\nAccess to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP)\n\nEmbark on Your Next Adventure with SVITZER!\nIf you’re passionate about maritime engineering and ready to lead a team to new horizons, apply now to join SVITZER.
