You’ll act as a trusted advisor to managers and employees, providing practical guidance and support across employee relations, performance management, manager coaching and the wider employee lifecycle. Combining hands-on HR expertise with a solutions-focused approach, you’ll help managers navigate complex people matters confidently, ensure consistent and compliant People practices across our global teams, and drive continuous improvement through data, technology and automation as Swap continues to scale.\nKey Responsibilities\nEmployee Relations\nSupport and, where appropriate, lead employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, performance, absence management, flexible working and family leave. Use sound judgement and discretion, and escalate complex or high-risk cases to the HRBP.\n\nOwn probation and absence management end to end, giving managers and employees practical, timely advice and escalating more complex matters.\n\nManager Coaching & Capability\nCoach and support managers to handle people issues confidently and consistently, including performance management, calibration, capability development and challenging conversations.\n\nPartner with People Managers to provide 1:1 coaching, support and guidance on employee relations issues, in support of the HRBP.\n\nEmployee Lifecycle & People Operations\nAct as the day-to-day point of contact for employees and managers on HR questions across the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, policy interpretation, benefits and performance management, working alongside the People Operations team.\n\nLead on family leave and flexible working requests.\n\nMaintain accurate employee records and HR systems, and help build out People processes and documentation.\n\nHelp coordinate and run core HR cycles, including performance reviews, compensation planning and engagement surveys.\n\nCompliance\nHelp ensure compliance with employment law and best practice across the UK, Europe and the US, in consultation with the HRBP and external counsel as needed.\n\nContinuous Improvement\nWork with the People Operations team to drive continuous improvement across the People function. Identify opportunities to simplify processes and improve workflows, and use AI and automation to create efficiency and free up time for more strategic partnering.\n\nRequirements\nCIPD Level 3 (or equivalent qualification or experience).\n\n3-5 years’ HR generalist or advisory experience, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.\n\nConfident and knowledgeable enough to manage employee relations issues independently, with sound judgement on when to escalate.\n\nA proactive, solutions-oriented approach and a track record of taking initiative.\n\nExposure to multi-jurisdiction employment matters is an advantage, given Swap Commerce’s footprint across the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, the US, Israel, Spain and Canada.\n\nStrong technical capability and data literacy, and comfort using data and technology to inform decisions and drive efficiency.\n\nWhat we offer\nCompetitive base salary: Pay that reflects your experience and the impact you’ll have, reviewed regularly as you grow with us.\nStock options: Own a piece of what we’re building.
