Every Day.\nAt SWARCO, we’re at the forefront of intelligent transport technology, designing and manufacturing solutions that help keep people moving safely and efficiently.\n Controller Production Assembler\nLocation: Melsonby\nSalary: Competitive\nBusiness Division: SWARCO UK & Ireland\nWe’re looking for a Controller Production Assembler to join our manufacturing team in Melsonby, working on the assembly, wiring and testing of a range of specialist SWARCO products, including traffic signal controllers, roadside controller cabinets, variable message signs and associated equipment.\nThis is a hands-on role suited to someone with an electrical, mechanical or manufacturing background who enjoys practical work, takes pride in quality and has good attention to detail.\nWhat you will do\nYou’ll be responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient electro-mechanical assembly, wiring, testing and preparation of SWARCO products.\nWorking from technical drawings, Bills of Materials (BOMs), specifications and kit lists, you’ll help turn individual components into finished products ready for use by our customers.\nYour day-to-day work will include:\nAssembling and wiring traffic signal controller and roadside controller cabinets\n\nPreparing cables, connectors and wiring looms\n\nCarrying out cabinet wiring and fitting electrical components such as transformers\n\nAssembling mechanical components, enclosures, prisms and trailers\n\nReading and following technical drawings, specifications, BOMs and kit lists\n\nCarrying out basic functional testing of completed products\n\nUsing hand and power tools safely and effectively\n\nSupporting PCB assembly/repair and basic mechanical assembly activities\n\nPreparing and fitting sign faces and assembling MDU units\n\nEnsuring completed work meets SWARCO’s quality and production standards\n\nIdentifying and reporting quality issues or non-conformances\n\nMaintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment in line with 5S principles\n\nSupporting continuous improvement and efficiency initiatives across the manufacturing operation\n\nYou may also be required to work across different manufacturing cells depending on production requirements and support general factory improvement activities where needed.\nWhat we are looking for\nWe’re looking for someone who is practical, reliable and technically minded, with the ability to follow detailed instructions and take pride in producing high-quality work.\nIdeally, you will have:\nExperience in an electrical, mechanical, electro-mechanical or manufacturing environment\n\nRelevant electrical, mechanical or manufacturing training or qualifications\n\nThe ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, BOMs or similar documentation\n\nGood attention to detail and a methodical approach to your work\n\nAn understanding of quality control and safe working practices\n\nExperience using hand and power tools\n\nGood communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team\n\nA proactive approach and willingness to learn new skills\n\nDesirable:\nExperience working with traffic signal controllers or similar specialist equipment\n\nExperience with variable message signs or roadside technology\n\nPrevious experience carrying out product testing\n\nExperience of PCB assembly or repair\n\nExperience working within a 5S or continuous improvement environment\n\nYou don't need to have experience in the traffic industry to be considered.
