We built this software to enable democratic nations to defend themselves.\nIf you are motivated by building resilient systems that matter and by seeing the direct impact of your work, you’ll find purpose here.\nWhat we’re looking for:\nWe are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Field Integration Technician to support the deployment, integration, and field modification of advanced unmanned systems automation technologies. This role is ideal for a technically proficient individual with hands-on experience in unmanned aerial systems (UAS), unmanned surface vehicles (USV), unmanned ground vehicles (UGV), and autonomous platforms; has extensive experience with embedded Linux and its deployment process; thrives in dynamic field environments; and is comfortable working on a small team, bridging hardware and software domains.\nWhat you’ll do:\nDeploy, configure, and troubleshoot unmanned systems in field operations, including aerial, ground, and nautical platforms.\n\nPerform real-time system software integration and modifications using platforms such as Betaflight, ArduPilot, and other open-source or proprietary flight control systems.\n\nLead diagnostic and troubleshooting efforts for hardware, firmware, and software in field environments, ensuring rapid resolution and minimal downtime.\n\nCollaborate with engineering teams to validate system performance and implement field-driven improvements.\n\nWrite and modify scripts and software (Python, C++) to support mission-specific automation and control.\n\nIntegrate automation algorithms and protocols into live systems, ensuring robust performance in complex environments.\n\nImplement and troubleshoot MAVLink communication protocols for telemetry, command, and control of unmanned systems.\n\nMaintain detailed documentation of field activities, system configurations, and integration outcomes.\n\nWhat we need:\nProven experience with unmanned systems design, build, integration, and deployment.\n\nProficiency in configuring and tuning flight controllers (ArduPilot, PX4, etc.).\n\nStrong programming skills, with an emphasis on automation, control systems, and embedded development.\n\nHands-on experience with MAVLink in real-world applications.\n\nFamiliarity with RF communications, telemetry systems, and sensor integration.\n\nExcellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to technical challenges.\n\nStrong understanding of embedded Linux systems and deployment processes.\n\nProficiency in network systems configuration, routing, and diagnostics across Ethernet, Wi-Fi, and telemetry links.\n\nStrong understanding of Linux networking (netplan, iptables, systemd-networkd) and command-line administration.\n\nExperience with VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access for unmanned and distributed systems.\n\nDeep understanding of UAV hardware ecosystems, including flight controllers (ArduPilot/PX4), sensors (IMUs, GPS, cameras), and communication systems.\n\nExperience working with microcontrollers, SoCs, and platforms like Raspberry Pi or similar.\n\nFamiliarity with hardware interfaces such as I2C, SPI, UART, and GPIO.\n\nSolid understanding of hardware-software integration in resource-constrained environments.\n\nBackground in RF engineering, IoT communication protocols; practical experience preferred over formal education, but both are a plus.\n\nConfiguration and troubleshooting of IP networks for UAS (Ethernet, CAN, UDP, MAVLink-over-IP, etc.)\n\nWillingness to travel and support field demonstrations (expected 40%).\n\nWould be an advantage:\nUnmanned systems, robotics or multi-agent coordination systems;\n\nBackground in electrical or mechanical engineering, computer science, or related fields; degree is not required - equivalent field experience is preferred.\n\nWhat you’ll get:\nYour work ships fast and gets used.
