Software Development Engineer in Test

Software Development Engineer in Test is a technical individual contributor role at Swiggy and in this role, an individual is solely responsible for setting up and implementation of test automation strategy from Functional and Non-functional perspective for one module or multiple modules who you work with. In this role, you are also responsible to find innovative ways to optimize the test strategy for maximizing ROI from areas that are undertaken for automation.

What will you get to do here?

• SDET is responsible for the addition of new capabilities and features in the automation framework which is used by the entire QA team for test automation. You are also responsible for managing and maintaining test coverage through periodic reports to engineering and stakeholders.
• Will play an expert role and demands a complete hands-on contribution on Single or multiple projects simultaneously.
• Must be an Independent executioner and has prior experience in handling complex projects with stakeholders. ·
• Must have prior experience in creating optimal test strategy (Including Functional, Non-Functional, Analytics and automation) and test plans for short term and long-term projects both.
• Must have understanding and implementation level experience on design pattern

What qualities are we looking for?

• Should have 1-3 years experience in Automation Testing
• Should have a good understanding of relational databases like Oracle, MySQL, SQL Server.
• Should have hands-on experience in Java - Test automation. ·
• Experience in any scripting language like python,·
• Hands-on Experience on latest technologies for backend and front end development like react js, angular, Golang, servlet, bootstrap, input stream processing, JavaScript, NodeJS is a big plus.
• Must have experience in TestNG, Maven, HTTP client, rest and web services test automation, Selenium, Appium.
• Must have a good understanding of DB queries, API Testing using Rest assured, joins, etc
• Strong hands-on experience in Full-Stack QA / SDET practices, with a focus on automation and quality engineering.
• Good working knowledge of Appium with Java for mobile application automation.
• Hands-on experience with API testing using RestAssured or similar API automation frameworks.
• Strong understanding of QA fundamentals, including test planning, test case design, execution, defect management, and overall quality ownership.
• Ability to create test plans, provide effort estimations, and define effective test strategies.
• Strong debugging and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to investigate failures across application, API, automation, and infrastructure layers.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in distributed systems.
• Experience testing and debugging applications in distributed, cloud-native systems, with good understanding of logs, traces, service interactions, and failure scenarios.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with developers, product managers, and other stakeholders.
• Demonstrates a proactive engineering mindset, takes ownership, and actively identifies potential quality risks and improvements.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a fast-paced engineering team.

• B Tech/M Tech in Computer Science or equivalent from a reputed college with 1-3 years of experience in a product development company
