We provide secure, stable, and easy-to-use database services with a strong focus on automation and self-service capabilities, supporting both private and public cloud environments.\nWe are looking for a hands-on Database Engineer who enjoys working with enterprise database platforms and is interested in automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.\nYou will work as part of an experienced and collaborative engineering team responsible for Oracle and PostgreSQL database platforms. The role combines database engineering, operations, automation, and modernization activities, contributing to reliable and scalable services used across the organization.\nOperational on-call coverage is limited (approximately once every two months and decreasing as the team grows) and applies only to high-priority incidents. The team follows a \"you build it, you run it\" philosophy and continuously strives to automate operational activities wherever possible.\nWhat You Will Do\n\nDatabase Engineering & Operations\nSupport and improve enterprise Oracle and PostgreSQL database platforms\nPerform database administration, troubleshooting, and operational activities\nContribute to platform reliability, availability, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery capabilities\nInvestigate and resolve performance issues across database environments\nParticipate in production support and incident resolution activities\nCreate and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures\nAutomation & Platform Improvement\nContribute to automation initiatives across database platforms\nDevelop and maintain scripts, tools, and Infrastructure as Code solutions\nSupport modernization efforts across Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based database services\nHelp improve self-service capabilities used by internal engineering teams\nParticipate in platform improvements focused on reliability, efficiency, and operational excellence\nCollaboration & Delivery\nWork closely with database engineers, application teams, and cloud platform teams\nParticipate in agile ceremonies and backlog refinement activities\nShare knowledge, ideas, and best practices within the team\nContribute to technical discussions and solution design activities\nHelp identify opportunities for continuous improvement\nAbout You\nNobody meets 100% of the requirements - and that's perfectly fine. If you meet most of the qualifications below and are interested in enterprise database platforms, cloud technologies, and automation, we'd be happy to meet you.\nYou will join a highly skilled, dedicated, and cross-functional database team located between Bratislava and Zürich within Global Technology Services.\nMinimum Qualifications\nExperience with Oracle and/or PostgreSQL database administration\nExperience supporting database platforms in enterprise environments\nGood understanding of database performance analysis and SQL tuning\nExperience with high availability, backup, recovery, and operational support activities\nExperience with scripting and automation (Shell/Bash, PL/SQL, Python, or similar)\nExperience working with Linux-based environments\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills\nAttention to detail and quality-oriented mindset\nHands-on attitude and willingness to continuously learn and improve\nProfessional proficiency in English\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Oracle RAC, Exadata, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure\nExperience with PostgreSQL administration and operations\nExperience with public cloud platforms (Azure, OCI, AWS)\nExperience with Infrastructure as Code and automation tooling\nExposure to CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices\nExperience with monitoring and observability platforms\nOne or more Oracle or cloud-related certifications\nInterest in AIOps, machine learning, or statistical modelling\nWhat We Are Looking For\nSomeone comfortable working with existing systems and improving them step by step\nA pragmatic mindset focused on practical and sustainable solutions\nAbility to balance technical quality with business needs\nStrong ownership and accountability for delivered work\nA collaborative team player who enjoys sharing knowledge and solving problems together\nCuriosity and willingness to learn new technologies and approaches\nFor Slovakia the base salary range for this position is between EUR 2,800 and EUR 4,600 per month (for a full-time role).
