As a member of the Enterprise Architecture community, you will shape and lead enablement capabilities and architecture governance across all enterprise-level initiatives.\nAs part of Group Enterprise Architecture, you will work across Domains, business areas, technology teams and governance forums to make architecture guidance easier to discover, apply and enforce. You will translate operational pain points into practical solutions: streamlined workflows, trusted architecture information, actionable intelligence, reusable guidance and fit-for-purpose automation, including AI-enabled capabilities where appropriate.\nThis is an enterprise-facing individual contributor role with accountability for tangible improvements in efficiency, adoption, decision speed and architecture quality. Delivery assignments may arise occasionally for high-priority cross-domain initiatives or to validate and improve enablement and governance capabilities.\nKey Responsibilities\nArchitecture Tooling & Digital Enablement\nOwn the design and evolution of architecture enablement tooling, workflows, dashboards and self-service capabilities that support architects, governance bodies and business stakeholders.\n\nIntegrate architecture repositories and relevant enterprise data sources to improve discoverability, traceability, information quality and decision usefulness.\n\nIdentify opportunities for workflow automation, AI-assisted analysis and decision support; prototype, validate and operationalize solutions with appropriate controls.\n\nEstablish product-like ownership of enablement capabilities, including user needs, prioritized backlog, adoption, reliability and continuous improvement.\n\nProcess Optimization & Operational Excellence\nMap and challenge existing architecture processes, eliminating duplication, unnecessary handoffs and low-value manual work.\n\nSimplify architecture intake, assessments, reviews, decision recording, exception handling and follow-up through risk-based and proportionate controls.\n\nDefine measurable service outcomes such as cycle time, manual effort avoided, automation coverage, throughput and stakeholder experience.\n\nImplement feedback loops that convert recurring cases, issues and decisions into reusable guidance and systemic process improvements.\n\nArchitecture Governance & Decision Intelligence\nImprove the effectiveness of Design Authority and architecture governance through clear decision rights, review criteria, evidence requirements and transparent escalation.\n\nCreate actionable insights from architecture decisions, inventories, risks, standards adoption and cross-domain dependencies to support enterprise steering.\n\nStrengthen architecture information quality, ownership, lifecycle governance and change control so decisions are based on reliable and current evidence.\n\nDevelop practical standards, reference architectures, patterns and guidance that help teams make consistent decisions with less friction.\n\nEnterprise Collaboration, Adoption & Change\nPartner with Domain Architects, delivery teams, data owners, platform teams and risk/control functions to shape common solutions and encourage reuse.\n\nEngage architecture community members to understand needs, test tooling, provide demonstrations, publish guidance and drive adoption.\n\nCommunicate progress and impact to leadership using concise, outcome-based reporting and evidence of improvements.\n\nCoach colleagues and champion an automation-first, continuous-improvement mindset across the architecture community.\n\nSelective Architecture Delivery & Feedback\nProvide enterprise architecture leadership or targeted design assurance for selected strategic, complex or cross-domain initiatives when required.\n\nChallenge architecture trade-offs, alignment with target state, resilience, security, integration, sustainability and total cost of ownership.\n\nFeed lessons, emerging patterns and information gaps from delivery engagements back into enterprise tooling, standards and governance.\n\nExpected Outcomes & Measures of Success\nReduced architecture review and decision turnaround time, with improved transparency and traceability.\n\nMeasurable reduction in repetitive manual work through streamlined processes, automation and self-service.\n\nImproved completeness, freshness and usability of architecture information across relevant sources.\n\nHigher adoption and reuse of common architecture tools, standards, guidance and decision patterns.\n\nEvidence that governance insights lead to resolved recurring issues and better enterprise-wide decisions.\n\nAbout You\nWe are looking for a pragmatic, curious and collaborative professional who combines strong systems thinking with a hands-on builder mindset. You are someone who can move seamlessly from concept to prototype to sustainable operational capability, engage diverse stakeholders with confidence and champion continuous improvement across a complex enterprise environment.\nWe are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:\n8+ years of experience in enterprise or solution architecture, architecture governance, technology transformation or architecture enablement within a complex organisation.\n\nProven ability to improve enterprise processes and deliver practical tooling, workflow automation, integrations or data-driven decision-support capabilities.\n\nWorking knowledge of architecture repositories, information models, APIs, data quality, dashboards, governance workflows and enterprise architecture frameworks.\n\nDegree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.\n\nFluent written and spoken English, with the ability to communicate clearly across technical and business audiences.\n\nThese are additional nice to haves:\nExperience with AI/GenAI-enabled automation, knowledge graphs, agentic workflows or analytics, with sound judgment about reliability, security and controls.\n\nTOGAF or equivalent architecture certification; relevant cloud, data, automation, AI or governance certifications are also welcome.\n\nExperience in re/insurance or financial services.\n\nSkilled in stakeholder engagement, facilitation and influencing without authority, driving change across Domains.\n\nStrong outcome ownership, clear communication, sound prioritization and willingness to challenge inefficient ways of working.\n\nAbility to translate enterprise needs into prioritized deliverables and demonstrate adoption, efficiency and business impact.\n\nOur company has a hybrid work model where the expectation is that you will be in the office at least three days per week.\nAbout Swiss Re\nSwiss Re is one of the world’s leading providers of reinsurance, insurance and other forms of insurance-based risk transfer, working to make the world more resilient.
