Then join us as a Senior Databricks Platform Engineer\nThis role requires to drive the evolution of Swiss Re’s Azure Cloud & Data Platform into a scalable, governed, and business-aligned product, enabling:\nEnterprise-wide adoption of Cloud and Data capabilities\nFaster realization of data-driven business outcomes\nStrong alignment with risk, compliance, and cloud governance standards\nProduct Management & Value Realization (Optional, but willing to learn)\nYour Main Responsibilities\nAs a Senior Azure Databricks Platform Engineer, you will own the strategic direction, engineering excellence, and product evolution of Azure-based Data & AI platforms, enabling secure, scalable, and business-aligned cloud capabilities across the organization.\nDrive implementation of data governance capabilities including data cataloging, lineage, metadata management, and platform controls.\nEstablish guardrails and operating standards for responsible AI, data access, and platform usage across the organization.\nPartner with Risk, Security, Architecture, and Compliance teams to proactively manage platform risks and remediation activities.\nEnsure compliance with enterprise governance frameworks, cloud policies, security standards, and regulatory obligations.\nAct as the primary interface between business, engineering, and platform teams\nInfluence senior stakeholders and drive cross-functional alignment\nEnsure adherence to cloud governance frameworks and policies\nEnsure alignment with Divisional strategy, cloud transformation, and business unit needs\nDrive standardization and guardrails for safe AI/data adoption\nEnsure alignment with Divisional strategy, cloud transformation, and business unit needs\nOwn the vision, roadmap, and lifecycle management of Azure Data & AI platform services, including Azure Databricks, Synapse Analytics, Microsoft Fabric, and related cloud-native capabilities.\nDefine and evolve platform capabilities that enable data engineering, analytics, AI/ML, and self-service data consumption at scale.\nDrive continuous platform modernization, innovation, and adoption aligned with enterprise cloud and data strategies.\nAbout you\nThe following proven technical skills will be required:\n12+ years in Cloud Platform Engineering & Data Engineering roles\n5+ years of hands-on Azure Databricks platform engineering experience.\nDeep expertise in Azure architecture, platform engineering, and enterprise-scale cloud operations.\nDeep understanding of Databricks workspace architecture, account administration, Unity Catalog, Delta Lake, Lakehouse architecture, and Databricks governance frameworks.\nExperience designing and operating enterprise-scale Databricks platforms supporting analytics, AI/ML, and data engineering workloads.\nStrong expertise in Databricks cluster policies, serverless capabilities, workspace security, model serving, networking, and cost optimization.\nExperience implementing data governance capabilities including catalog management, lineage, metadata management, and access controls.\nProven delivery in enterprise-scale cloud or data platform environments\n Hands-on expertise in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) such as Bicep and CI/CD Azure DevOps pipeline integration for automated quality and reliability checks\nStrong grounding in Platform engineering concepts: golden paths, paved road tooling, self-service automation, RBAC, and internal developer platforms (IDPs).\nExperience in Azure landing zone design, platform automation design, DevSecOps tooling, network topology & connectivity, access management & privileged identity design, platform monitoring, security architecture, high availability architecture design.\nExperience in DevOps methodology (preferably DevSecOps), both technically and organisationally, including continuous deployment, delivery pipelines and test environments.\nGood stakeholder communication.
