Reporting to the Director of Supply Chain, this role will work closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Finance to manage supplier commitments, resolve delivery or cost issues, maintain accurate procurement data, and support inventory and working-capital objectives. The Buyer will be responsible for day-to-day purchasing execution while also identifying opportunities to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, mitigate supply risk, and strengthen procurement processes\nEssential Duties and Responsibilities\nExecute purchasing activities for assigned materials and suppliers, including issuing purchase orders, confirming supplier commitments, and maintaining accurate purchasing records in the ERP system.\nReview material requirements, inventory levels, lead times, and forecasted demand to support timely purchasing decisions and material availability.\nMonitor open purchase orders and supplier delivery schedules, proactively addressing shortages, delays, pricing discrepancies, and other supply issues.\nExpedite or reschedule orders as needed to support production priorities while minimizing excess inventory and unnecessary costs.\nRequest and evaluate supplier quotations, compare pricing and commercial terms, and support supplier selection and sourcing decisions.\nNegotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and other commercial considerations within established authority levels.\nBuild and maintain effective relationships with suppliers to support reliable delivery, quality performance, responsiveness, and continuous improvement.\nTrack supplier performance related to cost, quality, delivery, and service, escalating recurring issues to the Director of Supply Chain as appropriate.\nSupport sourcing activities for new product development, engineering changes, prototypes, and product lifecycle initiatives.\nCollaborate with Engineering and Quality on component specifications, supplier qualifications, nonconforming materials, and approved sourcing alternatives.\nIdentify potential supply risks, including capacity constraints, single-source dependencies, long lead times, and material availability concerns.\nSupport the development of alternate suppliers and sourcing options to improve supply continuity and reduce risk.\nAnalyze purchasing data, cost variances, and supplier spend to identify cost-saving and process-improvement opportunities.\nCoordinate with Finance to resolve invoice discrepancies, pricing issues, receipt variances, and other purchasing-related questions.\nMaintain supplier documentation, including quotations, certifications, onboarding records, contracts, and related compliance materials.\nFollow established procurement policies, procedures, and approval requirements while supporting improvements to purchasing processes and data accuracy.\nRequirements\nQualifications\nThe requirements below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job well:\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent relevant experience considered.\n3+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, materials management, or supply chain within a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment.\nExperience issuing and managing purchase orders, monitoring supplier commitments, and resolving delivery or pricing issues.\nDemonstrated ability to evaluate supplier quotations and negotiate pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other commercial terms.\nUnderstanding of inventory management principles, material requirements, lead times, reorder points, and working-capital considerations.\nExperience supporting production environments and coordinating purchasing activity with forecasted demand and operational priorities.\nFamiliarity with sourcing components for new product development, engineering changes, prototypes, or product lifecycle changes preferred.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze purchasing data, supplier performance, and cost variances.\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple orders, suppliers, and priorities in a fast-paced environment.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and external suppliers.\nProficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; experience with data analysis or business intelligence tools is a plus.\nAbility to identify supply risks, escalate issues appropriately, and develop practical solutions.\nStrong ethical judgment and commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance.\nExperience in high-growth or small company environments strongly preferred.\nWhy Join Sy-Klone?\nAt Sy-Klone, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while building your career with an innovative, growing global company.
