Our platform helps companies build, deploy, and orchestrate agentic apps that take on real operational work, with the security and control large organizations need.\n\nWe are a small, engineering-led team working directly with Fortune 500 enterprises. We have raised $65M from Coatue and Lightspeed, along with other investors and industry leaders.\n\nThe role\n\nYou will build the infrastructure and control-plane software that lets Sycamore's services, mutable development sandboxes, and immutable deployed applications run securely from development through production.\n\nThis is software engineering for consequential distributed systems, not cloud administration. You will write control-plane services and Kubernetes controllers, codify infrastructure and delivery paths, design identity and network boundaries, operate tenant-isolated data systems, and debug failures that cross application, cluster, database, and customer-network layers.\n\nYou own more than whether a cluster is healthy or a deployment completed. You own whether the system is isolated, observable, recoverable, cost-aware, and safe to change—and whether the next deployment is more repeatable than the last.\n\nInfrastructure is the foundation beneath Product and Core AI. Errors here can affect every application and customer, so we maintain an especially high bar for systems judgment, production ownership, and recovery discipline.\n\nWhat the work looks like\n\nIn One Week, You Might\n\nTrace a failed application deployment across artifact creation, image building, registry publication, admission controls, routing, workload identity, health checks, and rollback.\nBuild or extend a control-plane service or Kubernetes controller that provisions and reconciles tenant or sandbox resources safely.\nDesign an edge-authentication, service-identity, or delegated-access flow and verify that untrusted workloads cannot cross the boundary.\nInvestigate latency or reliability across gateways, containers, managed databases, object storage, cluster scheduling, and customer DNS or networks.\nReview an infrastructure change for blast radius, execute a staged rollout, watch health signals, and prove the rollback path.\nRestore tenant data to a known point, verify the result, and turn the exercise into a repeatable recovery procedure.\nImprove sandbox startup time, deployment throughput, resource efficiency, or capacity without weakening isolation.\nWork with a customer's infrastructure or security team to satisfy a real deployment constraint, then encode the reusable solution in the platform.\n\nWhat you will do\n\nBuild and operate Kubernetes-based serving and sandbox platforms for agents, internal services, and customer applications.\nDevelop infrastructure-as-code, Helm charts, provisioning services, admission controls, and operators that reconcile environments safely.\nBuild deployment systems from versioned artifacts through reproducible image creation, staged rollout, health verification, promotion, and digest-preserving rollback.\nDesign and debug networking, ingress and edge routing, DNS, TLS, workload identity, secrets, and service-to-service authorization.\nOperate tenant-isolated relational databases, object storage, container registries, and deployment metadata.\nOwn backup, point-in-time recovery, restore verification, regional recovery, capacity planning, and disaster-recovery readiness.\nBuild observability, SLOs, alerts, capacity controls, and incident-response tooling across clusters, services, sandboxes, and customer workloads.\nMaintain production change controls, drift detection, release gates, and fail-safe rollout procedures.\nSupport hosted and customer-controlled deployment patterns while keeping the operational model consistent and auditable.\nDebug complex failures across application code, control planes, containers, Kubernetes, cloud services, databases, identity, and customer networks.\nTravel within India when working alongside a customer's engineering or security team will materially improve a deployment or incident outcome.\n\nThe environment you will work in\n\nOur current infrastructure environment includes multiple cloud providers (GCP, AWS, Azure, etc.), Kubernetes and GKE, Knative, Envoy, Cloudflare, Pulumi, Helm, BuildKit, PostgreSQL and Cloud SQL, object storage, container registries, workload identity, Python and Go control-plane services, Kubernetes operators, GitHub Actions, and production observability.\n\nWe also support customer-controlled deployment requirements and maintain more than one application-serving path during platform migrations.\n\nThis is context, not a checklist. We do not require previous experience with every cloud product or tool. We care about deep systems fundamentals, the ability to learn unfamiliar infrastructure, and evidence that you have personally operated and recovered important multi-tenant systems.\n\nWhat we are looking for\n\n5-12 years of software or infrastructure engineering experience. We will make exceptions for exceptional people in either direction.\nDeep hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containers in production, including scheduling, networking, security, deployment, and failure diagnosis.\nStrong systems fundamentals across Linux, networking, DNS, TLS, identity, databases, storage, and distributed systems.\nExperience building production control-plane software, operators, platform services, or developer infrastructure—not only configuring vendor products.\nExperience with infrastructure-as-code and delivery systems, including state management, drift detection, reproducible builds, staged rollout, and rollback.\nEvidence of owning consequential production systems through incidents, capacity changes, recovery exercises, and reliability improvements.\nA security-minded approach to tenant isolation, credentials, access control, software supply chains, and customer data.\nThe ability to write maintainable production software and automated tests for infrastructure behavior.\nAI-native. You use coding agents and modern models as a force multiplier while still understanding and owning every critical operational decision.\nClear communication and high EQ. You can work with a customer's CTO, security team, and infrastructure engineers without losing technical depth.\nComfort with startup ambiguity, broad ownership, and occasional customer travel.\n\nEngineers from Kubernetes platforms, managed databases, cloud networking and identity, developer environments, sandbox systems, PaaS/serverless infrastructure, delivery platforms, and systems-oriented SRE teams often do well here. We care more about what you personally built, operated, and recovered than a particular school or vendor certification.\n\nInterview process\n\nA 30-minute introductory conversation.\nTwo 60-minute technical interviews, one focused on systems design and one on coding.\nA take-home assignment where you build and present a real solution using the tools you would use on the job.\n\nWhy join\n\nBuild the secure execution foundation for agents doing real work in large enterprises.\nSolve systems problems spanning Kubernetes, control planes, identity, networking, data, delivery, and recovery.\nTurn difficult customer deployment constraints into a platform that scales across environments.\nWork on infrastructure where software design and operational judgment matter equally.\nJoin early enough to define how the India engineering team operates and grows.\nWork as one engineering team across India and Palo Alto.\nReceive competitive cash compensation and meaningful equity in the company you are helping build.","description_format":"text","description_chars":7649,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":5,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":["Equity"],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-11-05T20:09:45Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":86,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.86,"p_room":1,"age_days":0,"expected_fill_days":29,"reasons":["seen:0","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-11-06T05:58:05Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/sycamore-infrastructure-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/sycamore-infrastructure-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-11-06T20:54:15Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"assistant_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":6452,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-11-07T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":4518460},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=4518460"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fsycamore-infrastructure-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fsycamore-infrastructure-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fsycamore-infrastructure-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/sycamore-infrastructure-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fsycamore-infrastructure-engineer"}],"agent":{"mcp":"https://alion.io/mcp/jobs","mcp_open":"https://alion.io/mcp/open","next":[{"tool":"get_job","arguments":{"id":3833696}},{"tool":"search_jobs","arguments":{"company":"sycamore.co.in","detail":"compact"}},{"tool":"match_people","arguments":{"job_id":3833696},"note":"people open to offers who fit this vacancy"}],"note":"The same data through MCP tools: https://alion.io/mcp/open needs no sign-in (compact searches, postings, people); https://alion.io/mcp with an Alion account has everything.
