We're a multiplier: we build paved roads and enable product teams, not product features.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a Senior Platform Engineer, you'll build the systems and tooling that raise the floor for every engineer at Sydecar. You'll join a collaborative, high-trust team that values ownership, thoughtful execution, and a sustainable pace. Your work - faster pipelines, reliable infrastructure, safer releases, and a stronger security posture - will be felt across the entire engineering organization. This role suits an engineer who is energized by force-multiplying others and treats internal teams as customers.\nThis is a hybrid role based in San Francisco or New York City with in-office attendance of two to three days per week.\nWhat You'll Do\nBuild and improve the internal developer platform - CI/CD pipelines, build/deploy automation, and local and preview environments - creating a \"golden path\" that helps every engineer ship quickly and safely.\n\nDesign, operate, and scale core shared services and cloud infrastructure as code (Terraform), with strong reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.\n\nAdvance release automation and test automation so shipping to production is routine and low-risk, with safe rollout patterns and easy rollbacks.\n\nStrengthen the platform's security posture and help build a distributed security practice across the engineering org.\n\nPartner with product teams as an enabler - set standards and interfaces, and co-build where teams share an interest or have a timely dependency - while keeping the platform focused on general-purpose foundations rather than product-specific work.\n\nLead projects from concept through deployment, balancing speed with scalability.\n\nMentor engineers, participate in architecture reviews, and help shape the platform roadmap.\n\nCollaborate closely with engineering, product, design, and operations.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\nAt least 5 years of software or platform engineering experience in modern languages (TypeScript/Node.js a plus).\n\nDepth in one or more platform areas: CI/CD and developer tooling; cloud infrastructure and reliability (infrastructure-as-code, observability, SLOs, on-call); release engineering and test automation; or application/infrastructure security.\n\nA track record of measurably improving developer velocity, system reliability, or release safety at scale.\n\nDemonstrated experience leveraging agentic / AI-assisted software development workflows.\n\nStrong problem-solver for edge cases and system scaling, with an ownership mentality and a bias toward paved roads over gates.\n\nExcellent collaborator and communicator with an enablement mindset - you treat internal teams as customers and help others move faster.\n\nBonus Qualifications\nFintech experience (payments, compliance, or regulated environments).\n\nExperience building internal developer platforms or developer-experience tooling.\n\nTerraform and GCP familiarity; observability tooling (logging, metrics, tracing).\n\nSecurity experience - OWASP-style practices, secrets management, dependency/vulnerability scanning, or AppSec.\n\nExposure to NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, and Playwright / React Testing Library.\n\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.\n\nOur Tech Stack\nFrontend: TypeScript and React (mono-repo)\n\nBackend: TypeScript, NestJS, Prisma\n\nDatabase: PostgreSQL\n\nTesting: Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright\n\nDesign: Figma\n\nInfrastructure: Terraform (IaC)\n\nSydecar’s values\nOur values are important to the way we live and work at Sydecar.
