About The Role
This role is responsible for implementing a new collaborative scientific program between Sydney Water and the EPA to better understand interactions between waterways and wastewater. It is a complex science-based project that requires consideration of wastewater operations, receiving environments, public health and Aboriginal cultural values.
Responsibilities:
Working collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary Sydney Water team, independent experts, and regulators to implement a new framework to assess and manage the impact of wastewater discharges to waterways
Effectively integrate multiple complex and sometimes competing considerations into your decisions including data from environmental monitoring, regulatory requirements, asset performance, cost effectiveness, expert and stakeholder input.
Provide effective guidance for the development, delivery and analytical outputs of environmental and aquatic monitoring programs.
Ensuring Aboriginal cultural values of waterways are embedded in project decision making via effective, respectful engagement.
Manage effective stakeholder relationships, ensure effective community engagement and reflect customers’ environmental priorities.
About You
Tertiary qualifications in Science/ Environmental Management or relevant discipline
Experience leading complex scientific or environmental projects with multiple stakeholders
Strong understanding of scientific, environmental and regulatory principles
Ability to manage project schedules, budgets, risks and external vendors
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
Ability to balance technical, environmental, financial and customer needs
Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly
Ability to work within project management frameworks, systems and processes
Commitment to community outcomes, including respect for Aboriginal cultural values and waterways
