As a key member of the Site Leadership Team, this role is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and advancing continuous improvement initiatives that protect employees, the community, and the environment.\nWe count on you for:\nServe as an active member of the Site Leadership Team, influencing business decisions to ensure safe and compliant operations\nDirect reports for this position: 1 HSE Specialist, 1 HSE Engineer, 1 Environmental Specialist, 1 PSM Engineer, 1 Security Administrator. \nLead the Joint Health and Safety Committee and champion a culture of continuous improvement in safety, environmental protection, and operational excellence. \nEnsure the site maintains compliance with all critical company, provincial, and federal regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, and relevant process safety management standards. \nEnsure adequate HSE resources, training, and systems are in place to meet plan objectives and regulatory requirements. \nSupport and facilitate site audits, inspections, and regulatory agency interactions, ensuring timely and effective resolution of findings. \nFacilitates execution of select Site Key X’s and strategic plan initiatives to ensure the site meets its critical business objectives. \nYou will bring:\nBachelor’s Degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field. \nCanadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or equivalent certification preferred. \nProfessional Engineering License for Ontario or eligibility to obtain the license is an asset. \nMinimum of 10 years progressive experience in Health, Safety & Environmental management in an industrial chemical manufacturing facility, Petrochemical processing operation or Nuclear Power Generation station. \nPreferred 5+ years of leadership in a manufacturing environment. \nDemonstrated expertise in Ontario and Canadian HSE regulations, including Occupational Health and Safety Act, Environmental Protection Act, and process safety standards (e.g., CSA Z767, PSM, RMP). \nExperience leading HSE programs in a unionized environment preferred. \nMust have strong organizational and facilitation skills \nMust have excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills. \nMust have strong leadership competencies with a demonstrated ability to lead and motivate teams and drive improvements. \nDemonstrated ability to convert strategy into implementation process. \nCommunicate effectively in written and oral formats with peers and others at varying levels within the organization. Present ideas well one-on-one, in small groups, and to larger audiences. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range.
