And of course, in your ideas to improve lives while preserving our planet’s beauty for the generations to come.\nResponsibilities:\nMaintain expertise and regulatory awareness\n\nMonitor, interpret, and apply relevant local, national, and international HSE legislation and regulations.\n\nStay up to date on new developments in the HSE field and assess applicability within your scope.\n\nCollect, review, document, and share best practices and lessons learned.\n\nMaintain current knowledge of HSE aspects related to site products, processes, and installations within your perimeter.\n\nDeploy Group and site HSE policies, objectives, programs, and tools\n\nDeploy and follow up on Group HSE policies, objectives, programs, and tools.\n\nReview Group programs and propose site-specific adaptations and improvements.\n\nSupport testing of new Group HSE programs/tools when the site is designated as a pilot site.\n\nDeploy, monitor, and follow up on site HSE objectives and (continuous) improvement plans.\n\nSelect, specify, and implement appropriate HSE tools, methods, and approaches.\n\nDrive continuous improvement of site HSE performance\n\nAnticipate and assess HSE impacts of planned changes (new/modified products, processes, or installations).\n\nDevelop, update, and maintain HSE procedures, work instructions, and handbooks.\n\nImplement HSE engagement, awareness, and training programs for employees and subcontractors.\n\nDevelop and distribute HSE communication materials (manuals, bulletins, videos, posters/visual aids).\n\nEnsure compliance with HSE policies, standards, and legal requirements\n\nEnsure operations and products comply with applicable legislation, standards, and Syensqo HSE requirements.\n\nInvestigate accidents, near misses, and environmental incidents/non-conformities; analyze root causes and define corrective and preventive actions.\n\nVerify correct use of HSE procedures and protective devices; intervene to eliminate unsafe conditions.\n\nConduct regular inspections and ad hoc HSE visits.\n\nParticipate in internal/external HSE audits and contribute to identifying and implementing improvement actions.\n\nProvide HSE expertise, advice, and support to the site organization\n\nDeliver or support HSE training for employees and subcontractors.\n\nCommunicate relevant changes in HSE legislation and environmental requirements to stakeholders.\n\nProvide proactive and on-request HSE guidance to employees and contractors.\n\nSupport HSE-by-design in the design, construction, and modification of equipment, facilities, and processes.\n\nProvide HSE reporting and HSE Management System coordination\n\nApply and monitor HSE KPIs and performance monitoring methodologies.\n\nCollect, analyze, and report HSE performance data to Group and GBU management.\n\nCoordinate administrative activities related to the site HSE Management System.\n\nEngage with authorities, local communities, and key stakeholders\n\nSupport discussions and negotiations with public authorities on HSE matters under the supervision of the Site HSE Manager.\n\nRepresent the site during external environmental and safety audits/inspections.\n\nPrepare and maintain required HSE documentation for authorities, local communities, and other stakeholders.\n\nDocumentation and records management\n\nMaintain and archive accurate, up-to-date technical and HSE documentation in line with site requirements.\n\nSupport team capability and special assignments\n\nInform and/or train colleagues on new methods, procedures, and techniques.\n\nSupport teams in resolving complex HSE issues.\n\nSupport special assignments for the Site General Manager, as needed.\n\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety (or related field); Chemical Engineering preferred.\n\nMinimum 5 years of experience in HSE roles, ideally in the chemical or materials industry.\n\nStrong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and management systems (e.g., ISO 45001 / ISO 14001).\n\nProven experience leading PHA sessions and acting as a site-level HSE representative.\n\nStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\n\nAbility to work effectively in a diverse and inclusive environment.\n\nHSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH) is a plus.\n\nBehaviors and values\n\nIntegrity: Demonstrates ethical behavior and transparency in all HSE activities.\nInnovation: Drives continuous improvement in safety and sustainability.\nCollaboration: Works inclusively and values diverse perspectives.\nExcellence: Sets high standards, focuses on results, and pursues continuous improvement.\nAbout us\nSyensqo is a science company developing groundbreaking solutions that enhance the way we live, work, travel and play.
