Responsibilities

  • Direct the day-to-day work of the AML Operations team, overseeing day-to-day workflow allocation, capacity planning, and case prioritisation across CDD, EDD, ongoing name screening, periodic CDD reviews, and transaction monitoring.

  • Plan and manage shift rosters for the AML Operations team to ensure adequate coverage across the group's operating hours (Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia), including allocating shift assignments, handling coverage gaps/swaps, and escalating unresolved staffing shortfalls.

  • Perform the checker function over all applicable AML Ops maker-level output - independently reviewing and approving/rejecting CDD/EDD assessments, name screening dispositions, periodic review outcomes, and transaction monitoring alert closures prepared by the team.

  • Review Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) prepared by the team, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely escalation before liaising with Group Compliance for regulatory filing.

  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex, high-risk, or ambiguous AML/KYC cases referred by the team, and for queries from Client Success and other internal stakeholders that the team cannot resolve.

  • Provide structured technical feedback and calibration to associates on case and disposition quality, and contribute a formal written assessment into the performance cycle as an additional reviewer.

  • Maintain and propose enhancements to AML/CFT procedures and training materials, incorporating checker findings and error trends into process and training updates.

  • Monitor team quality and productivity against defined SLAs/QA metrics, identify recurring errors or control gaps, and report findings to Group Compliance.

  • Support regulatory inspections, audits, and ad-hoc projects, and lead process improvement initiatives across the AML Ops function.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of hands-on AML/CFT, KYC, or CDD experience within a financial institution or regulated environment with MAS and/or SFC licensed firms, including prior experience in a checker, QA, or supervisory capacity.

  • Experience directing the work of a team in a checker, QA or supervisory capacity - including allocating workload, setting priorities, and giving technical feedback on case quality.

  • Demonstrated people management or team-lead experience, including workload allocation and performance feedback.

  • Strong working knowledge of MAS AML/CFT Notices and/or SFC AML guidelines relevant to CDD, EDD, and STR obligations.

  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.

  • Independent, task-oriented, and comfortable exercising judgment and escalating appropriately.

  • Meticulous, with strong attention to detail and sound risk-based decision-making.

  • Willingness to work on a shift basis, including early/late shifts and weekend/public holiday coverage where required, to support AML Operations coverage across the group's APAC time zones (Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience building or refining AML/CFT QA frameworks or checker processes.

  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

  • Strong interest in fintech and investments.
