Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for working on the creation, modification and improvements of robotic equipment used in warehouse automation in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. You will work as a member of the team in the conceptualization, design, analysis, fabrication and testing of Symbotic's automated material handling equipment.\nWhat we do\nThe Cell Engineering team is responsible for developing the robotic work cells and automation equipment that enable us to palletize, depalletize, and manipulate products and cases. The team develops equipment in-house but also works with 3rd party suppliers and design partners to specify complete material handling solutions.\nWhat you’ll do\nCreate and design components of electromechanical machinery and systems.\n\nProvide technical support for the production and implementation of projects.\n\nPrepare and review drawings and other manufacturing documentation.\n\nDevelop and modify tools and equipment devices used in robotic cells and automation equipment.\n\nVisit customers to retrieve data.\n\nSearch for products and components, contact suppliers.\n\nPerform validation of critical mechanical components.\n\nAid in the commissioning of equipment and participate in fabrication and assembly tasks.\n\nParticipate in the elaboration of installation, maintenance and operations manuals.\n\nGuide colleagues in their designing of parts, mechanisms, weldments and industrial structures.\n\nElaborate and document test procedures for prototype validation.\n\nAssist teammates with documentation and Product Lifecycle Management tasks as needed.\n\nEnsure a homogenous understanding of design intent across disciplines (electrical, controls, robotics, and vision).\n\nAid in coaching and developing less experienced team members.\n\nWhat you’ll need\nBS in Mechanical Engineering discipline or any other equivalent experience.\n\nMinimum of 5 years of work experience in a hands-on mechanical engineering or design role.\n\nPertinent experience in the robotics industry or other relevant field.\n\nKnowledge of SolidWorks. AutoCAD, other CAD software and FEA is a plus.\n\nPLM experience a plus.\n\nExperience in design and drafting standards.\n\nUnderstanding of fabrication processes (turning, milling, welding, etc.).\n\nKnowledge of MS Office (Excel, Work, Outlook).\n\nAutonomy and ability to manage priorities.\n\nAbility to resolve and analyze problems.\n\nTeam player skills, with discipline and concerned for quality.\n\nFlexibility to work under pressure and in an environment where priorities change.\n\nOur environment\nUp to 20% of travel may be required.
