Freshly funded and growing, we’re looking for builders who want to help define the next frontier of human-AI collaboration.\nRole Summary\nYou’ll own the systems powering Symmetry’s platform and Intelligence Layer-designing APIs, architecting data systems, and operating production services that are fast, fault-tolerant, and secure.\nYou’ll work closely with product, design, and research to turn complex ideas into scalable, elegant systems that make AI workflows seamless and trustworthy.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDesign, Build, & Maintain APIs: Build reliable, versioned interfaces that power Symmetry’s product and external integrations.\n\nArchitect Data Systems: Design and optimize relational, vector, and graph-based data stores that represent interconnected project context.\n\nBuild Distributed Services: Develop and scale backend systems using modern Python frameworks and asynchronous processing patterns.\n\nIntegrate AI Workflows: Combine retrieval and generation pipelines to deliver context-rich, adaptive intelligence within the platform.\n\nEnsure Reliability & Security: Design for fault tolerance, enforce access control, manage secrets securely, and maintain compliance with data protection standards.\n\nOperate in Production: Deploy, monitor, and optimize services with meaningful metrics, alerts, and incident response practices.\n\nDebug & Optimize: Trace issues end-to-end, fix root causes, and continuously improve system performance and resilience.\n\nCollaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with frontend, design, and research to deliver reliable, user-centered experiences.\n\nOwn the Outcome: Document systems, write tests, and iterate post-launch using real-world feedback.\n\nSkills We’re Looking For\n5+ years building and operating backend or full-stack systems in production environments.\n\nStrong Python fundamentals and experience with modern web frameworks.\n\nDeep understanding of data modeling and SQL with hands-on experience in relational databases.\n\nExperience designing distributed and asynchronous systems for scale and reliability.\n\nUnderstanding of vector or graph data models and their role in search, retrieval, or knowledge systems.\n\nSolid foundation in cloud-native operations -
