At Symphony, real-time collaboration and secure communication demand ultra-high availability, ultra-low latency, and robust resilience. In this role, you will work alongside senior engineers to apply software engineering practices to infrastructure and operations problems. You will gain hands-on experience with cloud-native architectures, container orchestration, automated deployment pipelines, and reliability monitoring, helping ensure our enterprise platform stays scalable, performant, and resilient.\nKey Responsibilities\nInfrastructure Automation: Assist in writing and maintaining automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline deployment, scaling, and infrastructure management.\nMonitoring & Observability: Help build, refine, and maintain dashboards and alerts (using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog) to track Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs).\nIncident Response & Support: Shadow SRE mentors during incident triage, assist with root cause analysis (RCA), and contribute to blameless post-mortem documentation.\nPerformance & Reliability Tuning: Participate in analyzing system performance bottlenecks, stress testing services, and identifying single points of failure within cloud infrastructure.\nCI/CD Pipeline Maintenance: Support the maintenance and improvement of continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines to facilitate safe, reliable software releases.\nQualifications\nEducation: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related technical discipline.\nSoftware Development Skills: Solid foundational programming skills in at least one modern language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, or Bash scripting).\nSystems & Networking Fundamentals: Good understanding of Linux operating systems basics, command-line interfaces, network protocols (TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, DNS), and RESTful APIs.\nProblem-Solving Ability: Strong analytical mindset with a curiosity for understanding how complex distributed systems work and how they fail.\nCollaboration & Communication: Clear written and verbal communication skills with an eager, team-oriented attitude toward learning and sharing knowledge.\nCompensation: £14/hour\nDuration : 9 months\nBenefits:\nHands-on experience in real-world SRE projects.\nMentorship and guidance from experienced developers.\nOpportunity to expand your technical skill set and learn new technologies.\nNetworking opportunities within the industry.\nDevelop an understanding of Symphony's products/services and its relevance in the marketplace.\nJoin us for an exciting Placement that will kickstart your software development career.
