The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Cube Dev, Power BI, DAX, SQL, data modeling, and cloud data platforms, along with a solid understanding of data governance, security, and performance optimization. This role will work closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and technology teams to translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and high-performing analytics solutions.\nAdditional Information*\nThe base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $115k - CAD $125k/year & benefits (see below).\nThe Role\nResponsibilities:\nCube Dev Development\nDesign and develop Cube Dev semantic models using YAML-based cube definitions.\nBuild and maintain dimensions, facts, measures, joins, and pre-aggregation logic.\nCreate and manage Cube Views and access policies.\nDevelop analytical solutions using DAX, MDX, SQL, and GraphQL APIs.\nImplement security controls, including:\nRow-Level Security (RLS)\nColumn-Level Security (CLS)\nRole-based access control\nOptimize semantic-layer performance through caching, query optimization, and pre-aggregation strategies.\nEstablish and maintain modeling standards, naming conventions, and reusable semantic components.\nTroubleshoot Cube Dev models, queries, access issues, and performance bottlenecks.\nPower BI Development\nDesign, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, scorecards, and analytical applications.\nCreate and optimize complex DAX measures, calculated columns, KPIs, and time-intelligence calculations.\nDevelop reusable Power BI semantic models, datasets, and reporting templates.\nImplement and maintain Row-Level Security and other Power BI security controls.\nApply performance optimization techniques for reports, datasets, and data models.\nManage Power BI Service workspaces, deployment pipelines, apps, permissions, and scheduled refreshes.\nTroubleshoot report, gateway, dataset, refresh, and performance issues.\nPromote best practices for Power BI development, deployment, governance, and lifecycle management.\nData Integration and Modeling\nWork with Snowflake, SQL Server, Databricks, Dataiku, or similar data platforms.\nDesign star and snowflake schemas for reporting and analytics solutions.\nDevelop ETL and ELT processes using SQL, Power Query/M, and cloud-native data integration tools.\nIntegrate data from multiple enterprise sources into governed semantic models.\nValidate data quality, consistency, completeness, and reconciliation.\nApply data governance, metadata management, and modeling standards.\nPartner with data engineering teams to improve source data structures and downstream analytics performance.\nStakeholder Collaboration and Production Support\nGather, analyze, and document business and reporting requirements.\nTranslate business requirements into scalable technical and analytical solutions.\nCollaborate with business users, data engineers, architects, and application teams.\nProvide production support for semantic models, reports, dashboards, and data pipelines.\nPerform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.\nParticipate in code reviews, technical discussions, and best-practice initiatives.\nContribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies, sprint planning, backlog refinement, and delivery activities.\nPrepare technical documentation, data dictionaries, solution designs, and support procedures.\nRequirements:\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.\n5-10 years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or data development.\nAt least 4 years of hands-on Power BI development experience.\nStrong experience with Cube Dev semantic modeling and YAML configuration.\nExperience developing enterprise semantic layers and analytical data models.\nExperience with GraphQL, MDX, or similar analytical query and semantic-layer technologies.\nStrong expertise in:\nPower BI Desktop and Power BI Service\nDAX\nPower Query/M\nSQL\nData modeling\nSemantic model development\nSnowflake or a similar cloud data warehouse\nExperience implementing RLS, CLS, role-based access management, and other data security controls.\nStrong understanding of data governance, data quality, and reporting standards.\nExperience with Git and CI/CD deployment processes.\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.\nPreferred, but not required:\nExperience with Azure Data Platform services.\nKnowledge of Databricks and Snowflake architecture and development practices.\nFamiliarity with Agile/Scrum delivery methodologies.\nMicrosoft Power BI certification, preferably PL-300: Power BI Data Analyst Associate.\nExperience supporting finance, risk, regulatory, compliance, or enterprise reporting solutions.\nExperience with Power BI deployment pipelines, gateways, incremental refresh, and large-scale datasets.\nKnowledge of cloud-based data integration, orchestration, and
