Purpose of the Role
Lead and deploy the Manufacturing Excellence strategy-covering both process and people pillars within the Syngenta Production System (SPS)-to improve Formulation, Filling & Packing (FF&P) Manufacturing performance. Partner with FF&P manufacturing leaders to identify and build the capabilities required to drive transformation and optimize cost efficiency, innovation, quality, and production performance (processes, systems, and people). Ensure strong focus on execution, design, efficiency, and agility.
Accountabilities
Implement SPS aligned to strategy: Deliver successful implementation of the Syngenta Production System in line with the Global FF&P Manufacturing strategy, balancing site/customer requirements with SPS standards to support performance across sites.
Deploy Manufacturing Excellence strategy: Translate business strategy into site Manufacturing Excellence roadmaps; build the capabilities needed to transform process, systems, and people, with focus on execution, design, efficiency, and agility.
Drive long-term production performance: Partner with site leaders to deliver long-term production plans that improve availability, capacity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Deliver customer-focused outcomes: Collaborate with customers and site stakeholders to ensure reliable, cost-effective delivery and measurable operational impact.
Lead and manage a globally distributed team of professionals
Build a culture of excellence: Foster and role-model a Manufacturing Excellence mindset, acting as a trusted advisor to strengthen capabilities, improve performance, and mobilize sustainable change.
Lead change and continuous improvement: Promote a change-management mindset grounded in continuous improvement; coach teams and individuals to embed new ways of working and accelerate adoption.
Standardize and optimize operations: Oversee standard practices, capacity planning, and resource allocation; deploy change initiatives across sites to amplify performance and cost efficiency.
Ensure tool/process discipline: Ensure consistent use of SPS tools and processes to optimize implementation, maintain smooth operations, and improve productivity, quality, and profitability.
Develop talent and capabilities: Build the manufacturing talent pipeline and functional capabilities; role-model coaching and mentoring, and promote timely, constructive feedback.
5+ years of experience in a relevant scientific or engineering field (e.g., production performance, Lean leadership), with demonstrated manufacturing experience.
BS/MS in Industrial Engineering, Engineering, or Chemical Sciences (or a 5-year technical degree in a related discipline).
Manufacturing specialist with strong project/program management and change/operations management experience, confident leading large, complex initiatives with significant responsibility.
Track record leading teams and building manufacturing capability.
Ability to develop, coach, and teach others to deliver change.
Functional expertise in production performance, maintenance, and Lean leadership.
Information management: interpret, analyze, and present complex/conflicting data.
Communication: strong listening; clear messaging; sound judgment in complex situations.
Credibility & trust-building across all levels; able to remove blockers.
Stakeholder influencing: drive alignment with Site Leadership Teams and key stakeholders.
Fluent English; additional language a plus.
Ability and flexibility to travel frequently, as the role may require travel up to 50% of the time
