If you're passionate about shaping AI-first products, we’d love to hear from you.\nThe Role\nAs a Staff Engineer, you’ll define and implement the core systems powering Synquery. You’ll work hands-on across the stack, contribute to architectural decisions, and guide product-aligned engineering efforts.\nYou’ll also help establish our technical standards, influence hiring, and mentor teammates. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer excited to wear multiple hats-builder, architect, leader-and make foundational contributions to a fast-moving AI product.\nResponsibilities\nBuild Core Systems: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.\n\nContribute to the Architecture: Contribute to the technical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance of our systems.\n\nCollaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product, design, and ML teams to translate business goals into robust features.\n\nAdvise and Guide: Provide technical guidance when needed to less experienced engineers and help shape a high-performance, collaborative culture.\n\nInnovate: Leverage emerging technologies in AI/ML, generative AI, and hybrid search to enhance product capabilities.\n\nShape Engineering Culture: As a founding team member, influence team practices, tooling, and values from the ground up.\n\nQualifications\nExperience: 7+ years in full-stack software development, ideally with experience in early-stage or high-growth startups.\n\nTechnical Stack: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker. Experience with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and/or vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone) is a big plus.\n\nProduct Mindset: Strong collaboration with product teams, with an ability to balance speed, quality, and user impact.\n\nStartup Experience: A dynamic, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving.
