Syntax has offices worldwide, and partners with Oracle, SAP, AWS, Microsoft, IBM and other global technology leaders.\nGreetings from Syntax (https://www.syntax.com).\nWe have an Urgent requirement for the position of Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA\nJob Type: Permanent\nExperience: 8+years\nLocation: Remote-India\nJob Title: Senior Microsoft SQL Server DBA\nShift Timings: This position will work Rotational shifts (Morning, Afternoon IST Hours)\nPosition Summary\nReporting to the Manager of DBA Operations, the individual will be fully responsible for all technical matters related to Microsoft SQL Server databases, including but not limited to installation, upgrades, high availability/disaster recovery, performance tuning, security, and coordinating/executing all code and data migrations across on-premises and cloud platforms.\nResponsibilities\nShould have deep, hands-on expertise administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016 through 2022) in enterprise, multi-customer environments.\nMust have advanced experience with SQL Server High Availability/Disaster Recovery technologies such as Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, and Replication.\nInstall, configure, and maintain SQL Server instances on-premises and on cloud platforms such as AWS RDS/EC2 and Azure SQL/Managed Instance.\nPerform database refreshes, schema/table refreshes, and creation/management of logins, users, roles, and permissions.\nPerform backup, restore, and point-in-time recovery (PITR) of databases, including validation of backup integrity.\nMonitor database performance using native and third-party tools; identify and resolve blocking, deadlocking, and query performance issues.\nPerform index maintenance, statistics updates, and query/execution plan tuning.\nLead and execute SQL Server patching and version upgrade activities with minimal downtime.\nParticipate in and lead disaster recovery (DR) planning, testing, and execution for customer environments.\nConfigure and maintain SQL Server Agent jobs, alerts, and automated maintenance plans.\nImplement and maintain database security, including Transparent Data Encryption (TDE), Row-Level Security, and auditing.\nWork with development and application teams on database design review, capacity planning, and migration projects.\nOpen and manage support cases with Microsoft, AWS, and/or Azure as needed.\nWork in flexible shifts as demanded by project or on-call requirements.\nCommunicate regularly and professionally with clients via email and phone.\nWork within a ticketing tool (e.g., ServiceNow) to track and resolve incidents and requests.\nDemonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced, multi-client environment.\nQualifications\n8+ years of strong, hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA, supporting installation, configuration, administration, and performance tuning in production environments.\nProven experience with Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clustering, Log Shipping, Replication, and Mirroring.\nExperience administering SQL Server in cloud environments such as AWS RDS/EC2 and/or Azure SQL Database/Managed Instance is highly desirable.\nStrong experience with backup and recovery strategies, including native backups, third-party tools (e.g., Redgate, Quest LiteSpeed), and PITR.\nSolid experience with performance monitoring and tuning, including execution plan analysis, indexing strategy, and wait-statistics analysis.\nExperience with SQL Server security hardening, TDE, auditing, and compliance requirements.\nWorking knowledge of PowerShell and T-SQL scripting for automation of routine DBA tasks.\nExperience with SSIS, SSRS, and/or SSAS is a plus.\nExperience supporting ERP or other mission-critical enterprise applications on SQL Server a plus.\nExperience working in a managed-services or offshore/onshore delivery model supporting multiple customers concurrently.\nFamiliarity with monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, SentryOne/SQL Sentry, or Redgate Monitor a plus.\nExcellent troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills for issues arising from day-to-day production operations.\nAbility to work independently and interact effectively with diverse teams (application, network, infrastructure, and business users).\nMicrosoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSE: Data Management and Analytics, or equivalent certification a plus.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nWhy Syntax?\nBecome a part of our success story and work in a company with exciting innovation projects that are causing a stir across the industry.
