Factors that may be used to determine rate of pay include specific skills, work location, work experience and other individualized factors\nJOB SUMMARY\nResponsible for the efficient and timely delivery of the product to our customers, accomplished through thorough planning and an on-going process of monitoring driver performance, equipment condition and performance, and business volume, while effectively managing expenses in an ever-changing environment.\nRESPONSIBILITIES\nClosely monitor driver performance via the use of the trip master and other control features.\nMaintain detailed records of driver pay, equipment maintenance and equipment performance.\nReview driver logs and paperwork to ensure accuracy and adherence to policy and DOT regulations.\nClosely monitor equipment to ensure safe operation and minimize breakdowns.\nOrder necessary parts and equipment used in driver performance of responsibilities.\nReview routing and make the necessary adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency.\nHire, train, direct, and discipline transportation personnel to achieve the most effective use of human and physical assets.\nPlan and schedule assignments for the transportation personnel; process the weekly payroll.\nVerify vendor invoices and complete A/P (accounts payable) vouchers.\nMonitor trip records and fuel reports for mileage, fuel cost, and fuel economy.\nMonitor monthly expenses in relation to planning and make the necessary changes.\nPerform the necessary requirements of the Department of Transportation.\nReview backhauls to ensure profitability.\nQUALIFICATIONS\nEducation\nHigh school diploma/GED\n4-year degree preferred\nExperience\n5 - 8 years of transportation supervisor experience.\n4 years of transportation experience.\nProfessional Skills\nMust possess good employee relations skills.\nMust have the ability to communicate clearly, primarily via telephone, with vendors, shippers, customers, and Company personnel.\nPhysical Demands\nWork is primarily sedentary in nature. Frequent standing and bending are required when checking equipment.\nA substantial portion of the day is spent on data entry.\nMental/Visual Demands\nMust be able to read text that is close and at a distance with or without correction.\nMust be able to perform manual tasks, hear, sit, reach, lift, and interact with others.\nWork Environment\nOffice is situated in the warehouse.\nActivities occur both inside (protection from weather conditions but not temperature changes) and outside.\nEquipment Operated\nA calculator, copier, fax, PC, Microsoft Office applications, CRT, Trip Master software, TRUCKS routing system.\n Licenses, Registration and/or Certifications\nCDL License\n Important Notice for CDL Holders: If you hold a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), you will be designated as a CDL driver for Sysco, regardless of the specific position for which you are applying.
