Factors that may be used to determine rate of pay include specific skills, work location, work experience and other individualized factors\nJob Summary\nThe Principal Software Architect will lead the design, development, and evolution of scalable enterprise platforms across supply chain and warehouse management systems, remaining personally hands-on in critical code paths while shaping architecture standards used by multiple engineering teams. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:\nDuties and Responsibilities\nLead and mature the applicable solution architecture practice, setting standards and methodologies across all functional domains.\nDefine roadmaps and drive architecture strategy for cloud-native and microservices-based platforms.\nProvide architectural oversight on major initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture goals and IT strategy.\nModernize legacy enterprise systems using state-of-the-art technology stacks.\nLead the technical evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI/ML-driven solutions.\nDrive standardization and reusability of technology components and infrastructure.\nArchitect and prototype solutions to the organization’s most challenging technical problems, including production-critical debugging.\nPartner with product, engineering, and infrastructure teams to align architecture with business goals.\nDrive large-scale cloud migrations from on-premises infrastructure to AWS.\nMentor engineers and architects to raise the bar for technical execution across the organization.\nAssist the Director in overseeing architectural design reviews and approving technical solutions across all major projects and platforms.\nArchitect multi-region system expansions with integrations across international subsidiaries.\nAdopt AI tooling and techniques throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC) to improve the productivity, efficiency, and quality of solutions.\nDemonstrate strong leadership and communication skills.\nQualifications\nEducation Required\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.\nEducation Preferred\nMaster’s degree in a relevant field.\nExperience Required\n10+ years of progressive experience in software engineering, architecture, systems design, and technology leadership.\nDeep experience with frontend, backend, and platform technologies and frameworks, including Java, Node.js, React.js, Angular, RDBMS, and related technologies.\nProven experience architecting and delivering enterprise-scale commercial applications and platforms, including cloud-native, microservices, and distributed systems.\nStrong understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, as well as modern software development methodologies, including Agile and DevOps.\nExcellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into business-friendly language.\nDemonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across business and technology domains.\nAbility to deep dive into complex technical problems and guide architects and technical leaders toward effective solutions.\nStrong problem-solving, decision-making, and leadership skills.\nExperience Preferred\nExperience with AI-enabled SDLC practices and AI/ML technologies.\nExposure to warehouse platforms and supply chain technologies.\nExperience with mobile technologies.\nLicenses/Certifications Preferred\nAWS or Azure Architect Certification.\nCCA.\nPMP.\nOther relevant technical or project management certifications.\nTechnical Skills and Abilities\nBackend engineering experience with Java and JavaScript.\nDatabase engineering experience with RDBMS and NoSQL technologies.\nFrontend engineering experience with React.js, Angular, Flutter, Android, iOS, or related technologies.\nExperience designing microservices architectures and integration architectures using technologies such as Kafka.\nWorking knowledge of DevOps practices, including container orchestration and CI/CD.\nStrong understanding of AI/ML integration architecture, development, and enterprise rollout considerations.\nExpert knowledge of Oracle technologies, including PL/SQL, Forms, and WebLogic.\nExpert knowledge of PostgreSQL databases.\nPhysical Demands\nReasonable accommodations will be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job.\nPosition requires sitting for long periods.\nPosition requires the physical ability to travel to remote data centers or operating sites (OpSites).\nBENEFITS INFORMATION:\nFor information on Sysco’s Benefits, please visit https://SyscoBenefits.comOVERVIEW:\nSysco is the global leader in foodservice distribution.
