For fiscal year 2026, which ended June 27, 2026, the company generated sales of more than $84 billion.\nSysco LABS Sri Lanka delivers the technology that powers Sysco’s end-to-end operations.\nSysco LABS’ enterprise technology is present in the end-to-end foodservice journey, enabling the sourcing of food products, merchandising, storage and warehouse operations, order placement and pricing algorithms, the delivery of food and supplies to Sysco’s global network and the in-restaurant dining experience of the end-customer.\nThe Opportunity:\nWe are currently on the lookout for a Senior Technical Operations (Senior Data Operations Engineer) Engineer to join our team.\nResponsibilities:\nMaintain the health, availability, reliability, and performance of enterprise data platforms, data pipelines, and cloud infrastructure through proactive monitoring and operational support.\nImplement and enhance observability through monitoring, alerting, and logging to proactively detect, troubleshoot, and minimize data pipeline failures and service disruptions.\nProvide Level 2 production support for complex incidents, leading technical investigations, validating data integrity, restoring services, and meeting established SLA commitments.\nLead technical incident resolution and follow established ITSM processes for incident, service request, problem, change, and knowledge management.\nDrive problem management by performing root cause analysis, identifying recurring issues, and implementing corrective and preventive actions to reduce repeat incidents.\nSupport and coordinate production changes in accordance with established ITSM change management processes, including impact assessment, approvals, implementation, validation, and post-change verification.\nDevelop and enhance automation using Python and Shell scripting, and optimize AWS and GCP environments to improve reliability, operational efficiency, and cost effectiveness.\nCreate and improve SOPs, troubleshooting guides, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks to strengthen knowledge management and standardize operational practices.\nDrive continual service improvement by identifying operational gaps, automation opportunities, and improvements to service reliability and efficiency.\nCollaborate with SREs, Data Engineers, and cross-functional teams to resolve complex issues, improve platform resilience, and mentor junior engineers.\nParticipate in a 24x7 support rotation roster to ensure the continuous availability of business-critical data platforms and services.\nRequirements:\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering or an equivalent qualification.\n3+ years of experience in Data Platform Operations, Production Support, Platform Operations, or a similar role supporting enterprise data platforms.\nProven experience providing Level 2 production support, incident management, root cause analysis, problem management, data validation, and service restoration within established SLA commitments.\nPractical experience applying ITIL principles and ITSM practices across incident, service request, problem, change, and knowledge management processes.\nStrong proficiency in SQL, Python, and Shell scripting, with hands-on experience supporting ETL/ELT pipelines, Apache Airflow/Cloud Composer workflows, and Apache Kafka-based streaming platforms.\nExperience working with cloud-native data platforms and services on AWS (EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, Glue, Redshift, Athena, EMR, DynamoDB) and Google Cloud Platform (BigQuery, Cloud Composer, Cloud Storage, Datastream).\nHands-on experience implementing observability and monitoring solutions using Datadog or similar platforms.\nKnowledge of DevOps and DataOps practices including Linux, CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred), containerization, Git, and automation frameworks.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to lead technical investigations and troubleshoot complex production environments.\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across engineering, operations, and business teams, mentor junior engineers, and drive operational improvements.\nBenefits:\nPerformance-based annual bonus \nPerformance rewards and recognition \nAgile Benefits -
