This client-facing role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and supporting advanced networking, security, and collaboration solutions for businesses.\nNetwork Engineers work with a wide range of technologies, including routing, switching, firewalls, wireless networking, and collaboration systems. The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a strong technical team is essential.\nResponsibilities\nIdentify, analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve network, system, and performance issues.\nDesign, implement, and integrate networking, security, and collaboration technologies within client environments. \nServe as a technical resource for diagnosing and remediating complex client technology issues. \nDevelop Systems Engineering standards documentation, technical guidelines, and best practices.\nCreate and maintain accurate, comprehensive network and technical documentation. \nPartner with Account Managers to assess client needs and design, refine, and present technology proposals to clients and prospective clients. \nServe as a subject matter resource in one or more assigned technologies. \nProvide technical guidance and leadership to network administrators, LAN and WAN engineers, account managers, and other internal stakeholders within assigned areas of expertise. \nMaintain timely and accurate project documentation and time entries in support of effective client service and project management. \nContribute to the development of internal methodologies, templates, and best practices that enhance service delivery and client outcomes.\nParticipate in the 24x7 on-call support rotation.\nParticipate in after-hours project implementation.\nObtain and maintain certifications required to support partnerships with key technology vendors. \nThis is a full-time, hybrid position based in Portland, Maine, with a combination of onsite, remote, and client-site work. \nRequirements\nAssociate degree in a technical field or an equivalent combination of education, certifications, and relevant experience. \nMinimum of five years of professional technology experience, including at least three years in a service-based environment. \nCurrent technical certifications from Cisco, such as CCNA or CCNP, and/or Fortinet, such as NSE4 or NSE7, are strongly preferred. \nExperience installing, configuring, managing, or troubleshooting Fortinet technologies, including FortiGate, FortiAP, and FortiSwitch, as well as SASE, Cisco, Cisco Nexus, and Meraki technologies. \nExperience researching, implementing, managing, and troubleshooting network infrastructure across networking, security, and collaboration platforms. \nStrong knowledge of the OSI model, and core networking principles. \nBroad knowledge of cybersecurity concepts, including protection, detection, and incident response. \nAbility to explain how network technology and infrastructure can support client operations and business goals. \nStrong client service, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated commitment to professionalism. \nAbility to work collaboratively, remain accountable for assigned projects and deliverables, and produce results that meet client needs. \nEffective critical-thinking, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. \nStrong organizational, multitasking, and time-management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities. \nAbility to manage multiple concurrent client projects while balancing priorities, dependencies, milestones, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations. \nAbility to work outside normal business hours when required. \nA valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record are required. \nOur Culture & Benefits \nThe employees of Systems Engineering are its most valuable resource and have collectively made Systems Engineering a Best Places to Work company in Maine for over a decade.
