NPI (40%)\nLead the transition of new products from development into production, field operations, and commercial deployment, ensuring a successful transfer to sustaining engineering.\nServe as the primary engineering owner during product launch and early commercialization phases.\nCoordinate cross-functional readiness activities with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Operations, and Product Management.\nEnsure product documentation, training materials, support procedures, and engineering deliverables are complete prior to launch.\nMonitor product performance during initial market introduction and drive issue resolution.\nProduct Support & Lifecycle Management (40%)\nOwn assigned products throughout their lifecycle from design release through end-of-life.\nLead investigation and resolution of technical issues affecting customers, field operations, and manufacturing.\nLead engineering change activities, including evaluation, implementation, verification, and communication of product changes.\nImplement engineering changes, product improvements, cost reduction initiatives, and obsolescence management plans.\nMaintain product documentation, specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.\nDrive corrective and preventive actions to improve product reliability, quality, manufacturability, and serviceability.\nContinuous Improvement & Cross-Functional Collaboration (20%)\nCapture and implement lessons learned from product launches, field performance, and customer feedback.\nFacilitate knowledge transfer from New Product Development to Sustaining Engineering.\nCollaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Operations to improve product performance.\nParticipate in APQP, design reviews, risk assessments, and change management activities.\nPerform other duties as assigned\nExperience\nBachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electro-mechanical Engineering or equivalent science degree\n7+ years of engineering experience, including new product introduction (NPI), product support, product lifecycle management, or sustaining engineering activities.\nExperience supporting electro-mechanical products and systems.\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExperience leading or supporting new product introduction (NPI), product lifecycle management, and sustaining engineering activities. \nExperience with 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) and PLM systems (e.g., Teamcenter) and engineering change management processes (ECN/ECO). \nAbility to troubleshoot and support electro-mechanical products through collaboration with Electrical and Software Engineering teams.\nFamiliarity with electro-mechanical systems, including sensors, actuators, instrumentation, wiring assemblies, and embedded electronics.\nKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies, including DFM/A, Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive action processes. \nStrong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to lead technical investigations and drive issue resolution. \nProficiency with engineering analysis tools, including GD&T, tolerance analysis, DFMEA, and machine design principles. \nWorking knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, assembly, fabrication, and testing methods. \nAbility to effectively collaborate across Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Product Management, and Operations functions. \nExcellent written and verbal communication skills. \nProficient with Microsoft Office applications.","description_format":"text","description_chars":3915,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":7,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":{"level":"bachelor","optional":false},"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":[],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-01T09:30:28Z"}],"liveness":{"score":70,"band":"hot","label":"Hiring now","p_open":1,"p_active":0.744,"p_room":0.945,"age_days":8,"expected_fill_days":24,"reasons":["conf:3","win:mid"],"computed_at":"2026-10-01T13:02:43Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/t-d-williamson-sustaining-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/t-d-williamson-sustaining-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-01T13:02:43Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","usage":{"tier":"crawler","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":4579,"day_limit":5000,"remaining_today":421,"minute_limit":60,"resets_at":"2026-10-02T00:00:00Z"}}}
