We're focused on building advanced American manufacturing and we're passionate about engineering a better future filled with abundant energy.\nJob Overview\nWe are seeking a Lead Ignition SCADA Engineer with 5+ years of experience in design, development, deployment, and support of Ignition SCADA solutions and with a background in Controls Engineering.\nBased in Waterbury, VT, you will take ownership of core SCADA systems for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Microgrid integrations. This role will leverage and expand the features and functionality of existing systems while supporting new projects through design, commissioning, and long-term support.\nKey Responsibilities\nIgnition SCADA Engineer (Lead Role)\nDesign and configure Ignition Perspective views leveraging established standards and reusable components.\n\nIntegrate Edge Devices: Connect SEL RTACs, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), and Power Conversion Systems (PCS) using OPC-UA, Modbus/TCP, and DNP3.\n\nConfigure and manage alarms, trends, and reports: Configure historical logging, transaction groups, and automated performance reports.\n\nOptimize Databases: Design and maintain relational databases like Microsoft SQL for historical analytics.\n\nReceive and configure SCADA servers and perform or support project commissioning.\n\nCreate and maintain technical SCADA documentation including as-built configurations and O&M manuals.\n\nControls Engineering (Secondary Role)\nProvide control system design, programming, and commissioning for grid-scale Energy Storage systems.\n\nWork closely with clients to translate customer requirements into a project specification document to clearly define scope and deliverables.\n\nDevelop and define communications datapoint lists for the customer and SCADA interface.\n\nWrite and execute Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) plans, generally here in our Waterbury, VT production facility, and On-Site Acceptance Testing (OSAT) at customer sites.\n\nAssist with design and review of electrical and controls design drawings and equipment lists.\n\nPerform programming of PLC and RTAC logic controllers using IEC 61131 (ST, FBD, LD).\n\nTroubleshoot the electrical, controls, and AC/DC inverter power systems and coordinate modifications or corrective actions with engineering and production.\n\nAssist with the ongoing efforts to standardize logic modules and data structures while identifying opportunities to increase efficiency and coding standardization.\n\nProduce technical documentation and user manuals.\n\nUp to 20% travel may be required to perform onsite project commissioning and to support and troubleshoot existing installations.\n\nMaintain quality and safety standards.\n\nReports To\nThis position will report to the Controls Engineering Manager.\n\nQualifications\nIgnition SCADA:\nPerspective: Deep knowledge of building modern responsive views, utilizing CSS, flex containers, and creating highly reusable templates/Utech components.\n\nProficiency in Python (Jython) for advanced event handling, gateway scripts, and custom functionality.\n\nExperience setting up Ignition Gateways, networks, redundancy, and optimizing tag structures.\n\nExpertise in Historical Logging, Transaction Groups, and the Ignition Reporting Module.\n\nAbility to configure and image Ignition SCADA servers and edge gateways.\n\nA degree in engineering is required, with an emphasis on control, electrical, or software engineering.\n\n2 to 4 years of work experience with design and programming of PLCs is preferred.\n\nAbility to debug and troubleshoot analog and digital PLC I/O circuits and automated processes.\n\nStrong electrical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nExperience with OT protocols including OPC-UA, Modbus TCP, and DNP3.\n\nProficient with Microsoft Office software including Excel and Word.\n\nExperience with electrical power systems, grid-scale inverters, or battery energy storage systems is a plus.\n\nExcellent organizational skills and attention to detail.\n\nStrong written and interpersonal skills.\n\nMust be self-motivated and a great team worker.\n\nPhysical Requirements\nAbility to verbally communicate effectively with customers, vendors, and co-workers.\n\nHearing and vision within normal ranges, with or without corrective lenses or an assistive hearing device.\n\nGood manual dexterity is required for occasional wiring, assembly, and DIN-rail device installation.\n\nSome lifting is expected; occasional exertion of up to 25 lbs. of force may be required.\n\nSecondary job requirements include travel with fieldwork, which can consist of hiking, construction work, moving heavy objects, and wearing PPE for specific tasks.\n\nThe T1 Way\nWe move fast, expect accountability, and treat people with respect.
