Through continuous learning and application of critical engineering skills, this role crafts innovative solutions, enhances operational efficiency, and drives business growth. The Systems Application Engineer is the department’s lead on Taco Comfort Solutions complex product/system application offerings and develops processes to optimize Taco’s level and quality of deploying solutions. \nMeasures of success: \nEffective analysis and/or resolution of field issues and projects \nDocumented reporting of processes and engineered solutions\nEffective technical consultation of system engineering design and technical review of complex products and project developments \nResponsibilities \nResponsibilities include but are not limited to: \nProject Engineering \nAdvanced engineering support to customers regarding complex field issues, product integrations, project conversions/upgrades, and initial design/development of a project.\nOperates engineering system equipment, vibration analyzers, data acquisition and visualization tools, and test equipment to support project design, operations, and troubleshooting of systems.\nLeads design reviews, analyses, site visits, project definition and execution of complex product applications for designed systems and large projects. This includes design logic and calculated analysis of controls/automation, fluid system and heat transfer product/system integrations. \n Controls/Automation \nSupports new project developments and technical reviews, contributing to product applications relying on project design specifications and driving product integration.\nExecutes the design and support of hardware automation and software-hardware integration for complex applications.\nUtilizes control theory and logic to design, consult, and implement high-level applications to solve complex customer problems on an as needed basis. \n Engineering Support \nUtilizes computer-aided design (CAD) and simulation software such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), to apply complex analyses on commercial products and drive solutions for field applications and issues. \nFunctions as a member of an interdisciplinary team capable of executing static, dynamic, fatigue, thermal and vibration analysis and testing, as well as product testing and field support. \nSupports critical product demonstration for complex designed products to customers.\nCollaborates between multiple dynamic teams ranging from field sales, field engineers, and product engineers. \n Product Engineering \nWorks with a dynamic team of engineers throughout product design, testing, and integration of new product development at all phases, developing high-level product knowledge.\nUtilizes field experience, engineering skills and analysis techniques to support complex product design reviews and new product development.\nPerforms product testing on hydraulic, mechanical, thermal, and controls/automation-based products for field operations and new product performance testing. \n Application Engineering / Field Operations \nResearches, replicates, diagnoses, troubleshoots, and identifies solutions to resolve technical company product and complex system application issues.\nCollaborates with engineering test lab and product engineering to diagnose and find root cause of field issues, developing action plans of resolution to field issues.\nDevelops a detailed sequence of operations for Taco’s product lines, optimizing the process for product integration into customer applications.\nIdentifies and quantifies insights buried in data by applying creative problem solving, data exploration, and quantitative analytical skills. \nQualifications\nRequired: \nBachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering \n3+ years of related experience within the HVAC industry\nEngineer-In-Training (EIT) certification a plus \nNiagara 4 Certification with Tridium Platform (Building Automation Systems/BAS support)\nProficient in Computer-Aided Design (CAD), Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD); SolidWorks a plus\nProficient with Microsoft Office suite (Dynamics, Visio, Planner, and Power BI)\nFluid systems experience, preferably with Centrifugal Pumps and Vertical Turbine Pumps and applications to related systems. Knowledge of the necessary components and their application also necessary.\nAbility to analyze and respond to customer needs to provide exceptional customer care and resolution \nAbility to articulate technical knowledge in a simple and succinct manner based on audience needs\nExceptional verbal and written communication skills\nExcellent organizational and documentation skills\nTravel: up to 50% domestically and internationally to customer sites, tradeshows, conferences, etc. \n Work Environment:\nThis position works primarily in an office environment using computers and technology. Verbal and auditory capability are required. Occasional exposure in production plant where large equipment and noise are prevalent.
