You will play a critical role in mentoring junior technicians, coordinating job planning, and maintaining the highest standards of safety and efficiency on site.\nPosition Information:\nStart date: August 2026\nSite: Syncrude\n14/14 rotation, 12 hour shifts\nFly-in-fly-out from all major hubs in Canada\nCamp provided\nResponsibilities\nEnsure all rope access activities are performed safely and in compliance with IRATA standards and company policies.\nPerform inspections, maintenance, and repair work using rope access methods.\nPlan and execute rigging setups, ensuring operational safety and compliance with site and IRATA requirements.\nConduct pre-job hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and rescue plans.\nMaintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, and safety checks.\nPerform rescues and emergency response procedures as required.\nMentor and evaluate lower-level technicians (Level 1 and 2) in safe work practices.\nSupport continuous improvement in safety, quality, and operational efficiency.\nUtilize trade expertise (e.g., NDT, Welding, Coatings/Blasting/Painting, Electrical, Insulator, etc.) while performing rope access duties.\nConduct specialized trade work at height in accordance with industry standards and client specifications.\n\nRequirements\nCertifications :\nIRATA Level 3 Certification (valid and in good standing) required.\nStandard First Aid Certification required.\nValid Driver’s License and Clean Driver’s Abstract required.\nOther site-specific safety tickets (e.g., Confined Space Entry, H2S Alive, WHMIS, Fall Protection, TDG, Mobile EWP, etc.).\nQualifications/Experience:\nMinimum 2 years of experience as an IRATA Level 3 Rope Access Technician in industrial environments.\nStrong understanding of rope access theory, rigging principles, maneuvers, hauling systems, and advanced rescue techniques.\nDemonstrated ability to lead, instruct, and supervise Level 1 and Level 2 technicians.\nProven leadership and communication skills in a team environment.\nStrong safety, quality, and client-focus mindset.\nSelf-motivated and capable of working independently in remote, high-risk, and variable conditions.\nProblem-solving and time-management skills with attention to detail.\n\nBenefits\nThe strength of Tacten lies in its outstanding people.
