We are always working to make our Company a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place to work.\nAbout the Job\nThe Maintenance Department is currently seeking a dependable, motivated, and self-driven Maintenance Mechanic to join the team at Joseph Abboud Manufacturing in New Bedford. This position will perform a wide variety of maintenance activities related to automated assembly equipment, machinery, and systems that directly support production operations.\nWhat You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities\nTroubleshoot, diagnose, assemble, repair and maintain equipment, machinery and systems related to both automated and manual production equipment.\nPerform hands-on major and minor repairs and maintenance of pressing equipment, rolling racks, automated and mechanical conveyors, slick rail, loading dock systems, compressors, and other related plant equipment\nRespond promptly to equipment breakdowns and maintenance requests to minimize production downtime.\nCoordinate and participate in preventative (PM), predictive and corrective maintenance activities on machinery and equipment in the factory\nOperate and use manual tools and powered-shop machinery and tools to maintain a wide variety of automated and manual equipment and machinery for proper functionality\nIdentify and locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using necessary tools and standard practices to correct and solve maintenance problems\nMaintain equipment, parts, tools, and supplies inventories in the maintenance shop\nContinually maintain a safe working operation\nFollow all company safety policies and procedures, including applicable lockout/tagout requirements.\nPerform other related activities as assigned and needed\nSkills & Experience\nStrong mechanical background and equipment troubleshooting experience\nTechnical, vocational or trade school education is a plus\nDemonstrated mechanical skills and technical aptitude\nPrior diagnostic, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance (PM) experience preferred\nFamiliarity with various hand and electric tools\nAbility to prioritize and organize work related tasks and special projects\nMust possess good communication skills\nDetail-oriented and ability to meet deadlines\nProblem solving and analytical skills required\nAbility to work safely by following all maintenance department’s standard operating procedures\nFlexibility and dependability is required and must be willing to work overtime, off-shift, weekends, and holidays to support production needs\nAbility to work alone and in a team environment\nOther Duties: - This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice.\nReporting - Working Relationships\n· Reports directly to Maintenance Manager\nWork Environment:\nAbility to work in a production warehouse environment with exposure to various climate conditions (warm, cold, heat) and under stressful conditions such as small and high spaces with the following repetitive physical demands: continuous standing, walking, sitting, use of hands and fingers, grasping, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, squatting, stretching, crouching, crawling, pulling, pushing, working and reaching overhead, using ladders or lifts, and frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more\nPhysical Qualifications:\n· Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time\n· Frequent use of hands and repetitive hand motions\n· Frequently lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds or more\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.\nBenefits\nThe starting salary for this position is $18.00 - $23.00 and may increase to $28.00 depending on merit, length of service with the Company, and other factors. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary.
