We are always working to make our Company a more diverse, equitable and inclusive place to work.\nAbout the Job\nThe Maintenance Department is currently seeking a dependable, motivated, and self-driven Sewing Machine Mechanic to join the team at Joseph Abboud Manufacturing in New Bedford. The Sewing Machine Mechanic is responsible for maintaining, repairing, adjusting, and troubleshooting industrial sewing machines and related equipment to ensure machines operate safely, efficiently, and consistently. This position works closely with sewing operators, supervisors, and production personnel to minimize equipment downtime and support production goals.\nWhat You’ll Do | Key Accountabilities\n· Inspect, maintain, adjust, and repair industrial sewing machines and related equipment.\n· Troubleshoot mechanical and operational problems and determine appropriate repairs or adjustments.\nPerform routine preventative maintenance to keep equipment operating efficiently. \nSet up and adjust machines for different styles, fabrics, operations, and production requirements.\nRespond promptly to machine breakdowns and production requests for mechanical assistance.\nIdentify unusual machine sounds, vibrations, stitching problems, or other conditions that may indicate equipment issues.\nKeep the maintenance area, tools, and equipment clean and organized.\nFollow all company safety policies and procedures, including applicable lockout/tagout requirements. \nPerform other related activities as assigned and needed\nSkills & Experience\nMechanical aptitude and ability to diagnose equipment problems. \nTechnical, vocational or trade school education is a plus\nPrevious experience repairing and maintaining industrial sewing machines preferred. \nPrevious experience in a garment or textile manufacturing environment preferred. \nAbility to read and follow equipment manuals, instructions, and maintenance procedures. \nStrong attention to detail and problem-solving skills. \nFlexibility and dependability is required and must be willing to work overtime, off-shift, weekends, and holidays to support production needs\nAbility to work alone and in a team environment\nOther Duties: - This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. We take into consideration an individual’s skills, background, and experience in determining final salary.
