As a Senior Staff Engineer working on the Biologics Process Development team, you will be empowered to develop and optimize tools to enable development processes and model process economics for use in manufacturing facilities.\nPOSITION OBJECTIVES:\nThe successful candidate will be part of the Data & Modeling Applications Group within Biotherapeutics Process Development and will support process development and optimization of production processes for biopharmaceuticals through modeling approaches.\nPOSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:\nMechanistic modeling of upstream and downstream processes with simulation software applications to enhance model-based process development\nModeling of process sustainability and economics of new or improved biopharmaceutical manufacturing platforms and fit into manufacturing facilities\nPerform multivariate process trending analysis in support of development and optimization of manufacturing processes for biopharmaceuticals and bioconjugates\nModel impact of innovative strategies on existing and new manufacturing processes\nApply modeling approaches to process development including model transfer learning\nProvide modeling support for biopharmaceutical process characterization activities in preparation for process validation\nEvaluation of process and cost modeling software applications for use in biopharmaceutical development\nCollaboration with internal and external groups\nRepresent the Process Development Department on various project teams\nDevelopment of AI/ML model applications for hybrid models, and the exploration of innovative approaches to model building, including AI/ML techniques.\nEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:\nTo Be Considered at the Senior Staff Engineer Level:\nThe preferred candidate holds a Ph.D. degree or a M.S. degree in biochemical engineering/biotechnology, data sciences, predictive modelingor closely related fields with 3+ years (PhD.) or 10+ years (M.S.) of experience in modeling and bioprocess development. \nRequirements:\nThe open position requires hands-on experience in process modeling applications (such as gProms, GoSilico, BioSolve, SIMCA, etc.).\nAdditional hands-on and lab-based process and/or high-throughput development experience is preferred.\nThe candidate should be familiar with cGMPs for biopharmaceuticals and regulatory submissions and show the ability to work well independently as well as a member of a team.\nHigh communication skills, excellent written and verbal communication\nProgramming skills (e.g. Matlab, Python)\nAbility to present findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders\nAbility to work in fast-paced environments\nTeamwork skills for working in a diverse, global environment\nWillingness to stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies\nTRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:\nMay require approximately 10-20% travel\nTakeda Compensation and Benefits Summary\nWe understand compensation is an important factoras you consider the next step in your career.
