Cloud, IoT, Edge & AI.\nWe are currently supporting a highly established international technology and engineering organisation in the Basel with a key senior leadership hire.\nWe are looking for a Head of Digital Engineering & Technology to take responsibility for the technical direction of a sizeable digital engineering organisation developing sophisticated connected solutions for industrial environments.\nThis is a role for someone who enjoys operating at the intersection of people leadership, technology strategy and software architecture, senior enough to set direction, but still close enough to engineering to understand the technology and challenge important decisions.\nYour Leadership Scope\nYou will oversee 3 Team Leaders comprising of approximately 25 internal specialists.\nRather than managing one individual development team, you will provide direction across several technical areas and help bring different teams, platforms and products together around a common technology vision.\nYou will work closely with experienced Engineering Leaders, Architects, Product stakeholders and senior management across an international organisation.\nThe Technology Landscape\nYou will be working across a modern and varied technology environment involving:\nCloud & cloud-native systems\nIndustrial IoT & connected products\nEdge & hybrid architectures\nArtificial Intelligence & intelligent automation\nData platforms & architectures\nIndustrial connectivity & communication\nSecurity, identity, resilience & observability\nWhat You will Be Doing\nYour responsibilities will include:\nProviding technical direction across multiple engineering teams and technology domains\nLeading, supporting and developing 3 Team Leaders\nShaping future architecture, technology choices and engineering priorities\nTurning longer-term technology objectives into clear and achievable roadmaps\nCoordinating dependencies and technical decisions across products and teams\nHelping determine where investment and engineering capacity will create the greatest impact\nDriving greater reuse, standardisation and automation across the engineering organisation\nSupporting the adoption of AI within both digital products and software engineering\nEnsuring new technologies are introduced with the right level of security, quality and governance\nChallenging architectural decisions and helping teams navigate complex technical trade-offs\nWorking with stakeholders across engineering, product and business functions\nBuilding an engineering environment that encourages technical excellence, collaboration and continuous improvement\nWhat Are We Looking For?\nWe are interested in experienced technology leaders who combine strong technical foundations with proven leadership across multiple teams.\nYou should bring:\nSignificant experience within software engineering, architecture, platform engineering or a comparable technical environment\nExperience leading multiple teams and/or other technical leaders\nStrong understanding of modern software and distributed system architectures\nSolid knowledge of Cloud and cloud-native technologies\nExperience with IoT, Edge, connected products or complex distributed systems\nThe ability to evaluate architecture and technology decisions at a senior level\nExperience translating technical strategy into practical engineering priorities and roadmaps\nUnderstanding of scalability, security, resilience, identity and observability\nAn interest in the practical application of AI and AI-assisted software development\nStrong stakeholder management and communication skills\nThe ability to balance innovation with commercial realities and long-term maintainability\nYou don't need to be writing production code every day, but you should have the technical credibility to engage with experienced Architects, Engineers and Team Leaders at a meaningful level.\nLanguages\nProfessional English is required.\nA good command of German.\nWhy Consider This Opportunity?\nThis is a chance to join a successful, internationally recognised engineering organisation developing technology with genuine real-world industrial applications.\nYou will be joining an environment where digitalisation isn't simply a side project, connected products, software, data and AI are becoming increasingly important to the future of the business.\nSome of the key attractions include:\nReal influence -
