We’re not just growing quickly - we’re redefining how behavioral healthcare is delivered in America.\nJoining Talkiatry means joining a mission-driven team that is solving complex problems at scale, driving meaningful change in healthcare, and building the future of mental health care with compassion, innovation, and purpose.\nYou will:\nLead product design across multiple strategic areas, including Clinical AI experiences, patient portal flows, and design system evolution.\n\nDesign AI-powered experiences that support patients between scheduled psychiatry sessions, from early concepts through launch and iteration.\n\nDefine how patients interact with conversational AI, helping establish patterns for experiences that may not yet have conventional design precedents.\n\nImprove core patient portal experiences, including intake flows, appointment management, visit preparation, and other touchpoints that help patients access and navigate their care.\n\nTranslate complex AI capabilities and limitations into intuitive, transparent, and trustworthy product experiences.\n\nPartner deeply with Product, Engineering, AI/ML, Clinical, and other cross-functional teams across multiple product areas to shape product strategy and determine what we build.\n\nPrototype and test interaction patterns-from conversational AI flows to traditional web and mobile experiences-to learn quickly and reduce uncertainty.\n\nAdvocate for patient needs while helping teams navigate safety, trust, accessibility, and usability considerations across both AI-powered and traditional product experiences.\n\nConduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.\n\nUse research, product data, experimentation, and qualitative feedback to continuously improve experiences after launch.\n\nBring exceptional interaction and visual design craft to all your work, from early product thinking through highly polished final execution.\n\nServe as a senior individual-contributor design leader, influencing product and design decisions across your areas of ownership and beyond.\n\nLead the evolution of Talkiatry's design system, defining the next generation of our visual design language and establishing patterns that scale across web, mobile, and emerging interaction models.\n\nRaise the craft bar across the Product Design team through thoughtful critique, mentorship, collaboration, and high-quality example-setting.\n\nYou have:\n7+ years of product design experience, including experience owning complex digital products from discovery through implementation and iteration.\n\nA portfolio that demonstrates strong product thinking, interaction design, and exceptional visual/UI craft. A portfolio is required for consideration.\n\nStrong experience designing rich web and native mobile products.\n\nExperience operating with a high degree of autonomy and leading design within ambiguous or zero-to-one product spaces.\n\nExperience designing products where trust and transparency are critical to the user experience.\n\nStrong systems thinking and the ability to design individual experiences while considering the broader product ecosystem.\n\nDeep understanding of interaction design, information architecture, visual hierarchy, typography, layout, and responsive interface design.\n\nStrong user research skills with the ability to independently plan and conduct user research, usability testing, and synthesize insights to inform design decisions.\n\nExperience creating and evolving scalable design systems, or a strong point of view on how systems can improve both product quality and team velocity.\n\nStrong prototyping skills and the ability to communicate complex interactions before they are fully built.\n\nExperience collaborating closely with product managers and engineers and contributing meaningfully to product strategy, not just execution.\n\nStrong communication and storytelling skills, including the ability to explain design rationale, facilitate productive critique, and influence senior cross-functional partners.\n\nCuriosity about emerging technologies and a willingness to learn through experimentation when established design patterns do not yet exist.\n\nWe'd be especially excited if you have:\nExperience designing conversational interfaces, chat-based products, voice experiences, or AI assistants.\n\nExperience designing products powered by AI, machine learning, or large language models.\n\nExperience establishing interaction patterns for emerging technologies where best practices are still being defined.\n\nExperience in healthcare or regulated industries.\n\nExperience helping establish or significantly evolve the visual language of a product or design system.\n\nExperience designing patient-facing or consumer health products.\n\nThis role includes work on emerging AI experiences, but we don't expect candidates to have spent years designing AI products.
