Our next focus is expanding our team to bring our product to market at scale.\nAbout the Role\nTandem PV is seeking a hands-on, analytically minded Process & Quality Engineering Technician to support our pilot manufacturing line, process monitoring systems, and quality control activities.\nThis position combines equipment instrumentation, data analysis, technical troubleshooting, and quality inspection. Approximately 50-75% of the role will involve working directly on the pilot line, installing and maintaining sensors, monitoring process performance, and helping identify and resolve equipment or process issues.\nThe ideal candidate is technically curious, comfortable working with both hardware and software, and capable of independently investigating problems and developing potential solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys hands-on technical work while expanding their experience with manufacturing systems, data analysis, and emerging AI-enabled troubleshooting tools.\nKey Responsibilities\nPilot Line Instrumentation & Process Monitoring\nInstall, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot sensors and monitoring equipment on the pilot manufacturing line.\n\nSupport the collection, organization, and validation of process and equipment performance data.\n\nMonitor sensor outputs and process trends to identify abnormalities, inconsistencies, or potential equipment issues.\n\nWork closely with engineering and manufacturing teams to improve process visibility, equipment reliability, and data collection capabilities.\n\nAssist with implementing and maintaining monitoring systems as the pilot line evolves.\n\nData Analysis & Technical Troubleshooting\nReview process data to determine whether measurements and equipment outputs are accurate, consistent, and within expected operating parameters.\n\nInvestigate unexpected results, identify potential root causes, and develop hypotheses for further evaluation.\n\nUtilize AI-enabled tools, software applications, and other analytical resources to support troubleshooting and problem-solving.\n\nRecommend corrective actions and implement approved improvements in collaboration with engineering.\n\nDocument findings, troubleshooting activities, and recommended solutions.\n\nTechnical Systems & Software Support\nSupport the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of technical software and systems used in engineering and manufacturing operations.\n\nAssist with system administration, troubleshooting, and related technical activities.\n\nConfigure computers and laptops, install software, and support system updates and connectivity requirements.\n\nTroubleshoot basic hardware, software, and system integration issues.\n\nCoordinate with engineering and external technical support providers as needed.\n\nQuality Control & Incoming Inspection\nSupport incoming material inspection and quality control activities, including glass and other critical manufacturing materials.\n\nCollect, document, and analyze incoming material quality metrics.\n\nIdentify material defects, inconsistencies, and potential quality concerns.\n\nAssist in developing and maintaining inspection procedures, quality records, and performance tracking.\n\nCollaborate with engineering and manufacturing teams to investigate quality issues and support corrective actions.\n\nMetrology & Continuous Improvement\nAssist with the implementation and operation of additional quality and metrology tools as capabilities expand.\n\nMaintain accurate technical documentation, measurement records, and process data.\n\nParticipate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on process consistency, data accuracy, quality, and manufacturing efficiency.\n\nQualifications\nRequired Qualifications\nAssociate degree in Engineering Technology, Electronics, Manufacturing Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on technical experience.\n\nExperience working in a manufacturing, engineering, laboratory, or other technical environment.\n\nHands-on aptitude for installing, configuring, maintaining, or troubleshooting technical equipment, sensors, or instrumentation.\n\nAbility to interpret technical data, recognize abnormalities, and approach problems using logical troubleshooting methods.\n\nComfortable using computers, technical software, spreadsheets, and digital tools to analyze information and solve problems.\n\nAbility to perform basic software installation, configuration, and computer troubleshooting.\n\nStrong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate technical records.\n\nAbility to work independently while collaborating effectively with engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel.\n\nWillingness to learn new technologies, systems, and processes in a dynamic development environment.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with process monitoring, sensors, data acquisition systems, or industrial instrumentation.\n\nFamiliarity with manufacturing quality control, incoming inspection, or metrology equipment.\n\nExperience working with manufacturing process data, including Excel, Python, or other analytical tools.\n\nFamiliarity with AI-enabled tools for technical research, troubleshooting, or data analysis.\n\nExperience with basic automation, equipment connectivity, or manufacturing software systems.\n\nExposure to semiconductor, photovoltaic, thin-film, or other advanced manufacturing environments.\n\nFamiliarity with quality management practices, inspection procedures, and root cause analysis.\n\nWork Environment & Physical Requirements\nPrimarily on-site at Tandem PV's Fremont research and manufacturing facility.\n\nRegular work on the pilot manufacturing line and in engineering or laboratory environments.\n\nAbility to stand, walk, and work around manufacturing equipment for extended periods.\n\nAbility to perform hands-on installation, inspection, and troubleshooting activities.\n\nMay require appropriate personal protective equipment and
