Performs repairs to engine and parts not performed by another department. This position will support a safety and customer service culture through programs, procedures, and other related work to achieve TARC’s mission and strategic outcomes. The position is responsible for meeting or exceeding all TARC policies and procedures with strict adherence to all local, state, and federal regulations; and performing related duties as assigned.\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:\nNone\nCOMPENSATION:\nStarting pay: $32.31/hour\nEarn up to an additional $8/hour with ASE certifications\nHighly technical positions: Additional $1/hour\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nPlans work using experience, charts, and/or manuals\nPerforms “road calls” with company truck; brings tools tray. May have the assistance of another mechanic\nMakes road repairs if able, or brings the coach back to the garage and arranges for another coach by radio\nRepairs or replaces parts in transmission, adjusts brakes, treadle valves using mechanics hand tools and lubricating grease\nCompletes report of trouble call(s)\nADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:\nRaises coach on hydraulic lift at suitable height for the individual\nRemoves back seat to access Jefferson door if required\nChanges tires if required\nMay train new employees or advise others, depending upon experience\nMay clean shop if required\nCleans parts using Safety Clean parts basin\nPerforms other duties as assigned\nMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent. \nMinimum of three (3) years diesel, or five (5) years automotive mechanic verifiable work experience. \nMust be at least 21 years of age \nPossession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Kentucky or Indiana Commercial Class B Driver's License with a passenger and air brakes endorsements within 60 days of hire.\nCDL Permit must be obtained prior to date of hire\nSuccessful performance on pre-employment tests.\nNote: An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be substituted for the above stated minimums excluding High School Diploma, GED, Licenses, or Certifications.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:\nMust be able to successfully pass a DOT Physical including bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing, or crouching.\nMust be able to lift up to 75 pounds.\nCommunicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing, using appropriate English grammar and syntax.\nAbility to safety and properly operate a variety of hand and power tools.\nAbility to user computerized diagnostic equipment.\nMust have the ability to safely and properly operate a coach or other vehicle. \nBENEFITS:\nTARC offers benefits that other companies can’t match.
