You create, own and are responsible for the application architecture that best serves the product in its functional and non-functional needs. You identify and drive architectural changes to accelerate feature development or improve the quality of service (or both). As a Lead iOS Engineer, you will help shape the Reorder and Buy It Again experience, making it easier for guests to find previously purchased products and shop for them again. You’ll partner with Product, UX, backend, and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, intuitive features within Target’s flagship app.\n\nAs a Lead iOS Engineer on the Fulfillment team, you will:\nLead the design, development, and delivery of native iOS features for the Reorder and Buy It Again experience.\nDevelop clean, scalable, and well-tested Swift code using modern iOS frameworks and patterns, including SwiftUI and The Composable Architecture (TCA).\nOwn technical designs and architectural decisions, balancing guest needs, business objectives, maintainability, performance, and reliability.\nDrive engineering work from discovery and requirements through implementation, testing, release, and ongoing support.\nCoach and mentor engineers, raising the quality of code, design, testing, and technical decision-making across the team.\nCollaborate closely with Product, UX, backend, analytics, and partner engineering teams to deliver cohesive guest experiences.\nManage complex cross-team coordination, technical dependencies, and delivery risks.\nEvaluate engineering solutions and clearly communicate trade-offs to technical and non-technical partners.\nIdentify opportunities to improve app architecture, developer productivity, observability, and quality of service.\nUse instrumentation and analytics to understand feature performance and inform future improvements.\nCore responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.\nAbout you:\n4 year degree or equivalent experience • 7+ years of software development experience with at least one full cycle implementation\n4+ yearsof experience developing apps for iOS\nDeep experience with Swift and modern iOS development, including SwiftUI, UIKit, Swift Concurrency, Xcode, and Instruments\nExperience following best practices in developing iOS apps at scale on large, distributed teams, including modular app architecture, frameworks, build pipeline, on-prem and cloud CI/CD, automated testing, observability, code review, static analysis, etc.\nDeep expertise in Apple development, tools, and frameworks\nExperience with authenticated sessions using OAuth and authentication tokens\nExperience developing highly successful apps that enjoy wide scale distribution\nExperience with design/development/use of analytics solutions\nExperience with agile methodology\nAI-assisted coding, developer productivity tools\nExperience with test-driven development and software test automation\nExcellent debugging, performance and optimization skills\nExcellent knowledge of working with dynamic data using services (e.g., JSON, REST APIs, etc.)\nExperience distributing mobile applications via public app stores and/or enterprise channels • Communicates and coordinates with project team, partners, and stakeholders • Maintains deep technical knowledge within areas of expertise • Stays current with new and evolving technologies via formal training and self-directed education\nThis position will operate as a Hybrid/Flex for Your Day work arrangement based on Target’s needs.
