One TARTA! The role of the Inventory Manager will focus on supporting Maintenance within a new TARTA. The Strategic Plan focuses on the customer experience, financial stewardship, operational excellence, and growth. This transformation is powered by a dedicated team of professionals in each department from the leadership team to every front-line (and behind the scenes) team member.\nDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nEvaluates material requisitions to determine stocking levels.\nDevelop and revise computerized inventory control system requirements to ensure the availability of required material.\nPlan and oversee special projects related to the control of capital and material inventory; identifies cause of problems.\nOversee the material planning of TARTA’s operations inventory.\nPrepares reports and presents information to other departments.\nRepresents department management at meetings with clients and suppliers.\nOversee the inspection of inventory items to ensure compliance with established procedures and requirements.\nOversees subordinates in the development and maintenance of computerized parts catalogs.\nEnsures item catalog update data is updated in a timely and accurate manner and communicated to Maintenance and Parts staff.\nAccounts for subordinate and personal compliance with all TARTA′s safety rules, polices, and procedures.\nReviews and approves client requests for new inventory items set ups.\nEnsures timely and accurate response to requests for technical assistance and resolves any discrepancies.\nEnsures integrity and accuracy of inventory data records.\nEstablishes and maintains inventory stocking guidelines.\nAttend committee meetings as requested.\nAnalyzes monthly material account information for posting to general ledger.\nAdministers an annual agency-wide equipment inventory, quarterly random sampling inventory project and ongoing sequential inventory project.\nProcesses, compiles, prepares and publishes scheduled and ad hoc departmental reports.\nPerform other related duties as required; all job descriptions are subject to change.\nTravel to multiple facilities.\nEssential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities\nTheories, principles, and practices of quality receiving, inventory control and equipment inventory, procurement, and material requirement planning\nApplicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing salvage/surplus disposal and recycling for a public transportation agency.\nVehicle systems, parts and components used on various fleet types and models of large transportation vehicles.\nDevelopment of illustrated part catalog for various transit vehicles\nMaintaining and updating on-line illustrated parts catalog in an enterprise environment\nMaintenance and material management systems\nPrinciples of supervision\nApplicable business software applications such as Microsoft Office Suite\nPlanning, organizing, and monitoring the work of an inventory control department.\nAnalyzing situations, identifying problems, and recommending solutions\nExercising judgment and creativity in making decisions\nCommunicating effectively orally and in writing\nInteracting professionally with various levels of TARTA’s employees and outside representatives\nUtilizing computerized inventory systems\nApply inventory control principles.\nUnderstand, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, procedures, contracts, budgets, and labor/management agreements.\nDetermine strategies to achieve goals.\nPrepare comprehensive reports and correspondence.\nSupervise and train subordinate staff.\nRead, write, speak, and understand English.\nPre-Employment Requirements:\nTARTA is a drug-free workplace. Applicants who test positive or refuse to test will not be eligible for hire.\nMinimum Qualifications\nA combination of education and/or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.\nCurrent and valid Ohio Driver’s License \nEducation and Experience\nBachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration or related.\nTwo (2) years relevant senior or lead-level experience in a bus maintenance environment of a mid-sized public transportation agency using a maintenance and material management system and management report writer in an automated warehouse or inventory control system; experience with Oracle based Maintenance and Material Management system and Crystal management report writer is preferred\nSpecial Conditions\nThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be satisfied by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
