We serve as the foundation that enables our engineering organization to stay on track, move faster, and build scalable, high-impact features.\nIn this role, one of the initial responsibilities will be to lead the integration of our experimentation platform, empowering our product and engineering teams to experiment, test hypotheses, and iterate quickly on new features. As a Staff Engineer, you will help lead a team that designs, builds, evolves, and maintains these foundational systems. Your technical decisions will have a direct and highly visible impact on engineering productivity, product velocity, and the overall experience of our marketplace! Join us in transforming lives, one task at a time.\nWhat You’ll Work On:\nLead the architecture, integration, and adoption of our company-wide experimentation platform to enable rapid iteration and feature testing across teams\nDesign, build, and maintain robust, high-performance TypeScript-based APIs and foundational services\nWork closely with Ruby on Rails backend services and integrate shared capabilities into existing application infrastructure\nPropose and drive improvements to platform performance, reliability, and developer experience\nGuide and mentor other engineers on best practices for feature experimentation, API design, and scalable architecture\nPartner with Engineering and Product leadership to establish a unified data-driven experimentation strategy across Taskrabbit\nAdvise senior leadership on platform capabilities, experimentation architecture, and future strategic initiatives\nYour core skills:\n8+ years of experience developing modern APIs\nHands-on experience with at least one major experimentation & feature flagging platform (e.g., Optimizely, Growthbook, Statsig, or similar)\nProfessional experience with AI led agentic software development (e.g. Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, etc)\nExperience building and maintaining robust TypeScript-based APIs and services\nExceptionally strong technical design and architecture skills with a focus on scalable shared capabilities\nExperience with modern software development workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and containerized environments\nPassion for mentoring engineers and elevating team capabilities\nStrong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to articulate complex technical subjects clearly\nProven track record of breaking down complex platform initiatives into manageable, high-impact iterations\nNice-to-have skills:\nExperience with Ruby on Rails is a plus\nFamiliarity with event-driven architectures and data streaming mechanisms (e.g. Kafka)\nExperience with cloud infrastructure (AWS), infrastructure as code, and container orchestration (Kubernetes)\nComfortable with relational and key-value datastores (e.g., MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch)\nExperience with Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) design patterns\nCompensation & Benefits: \nAt Taskrabbit, our approach to compensation is designed to be competitive, transparent, and equitable. Total compensation consists of base pay + bonus + benefits + perks. The base pay range for this position is $150,000 - $200,000. This range is representative of base pay only, and does not include any other total cash compensation amounts, such as company bonus or benefits.
