With a highly skilled workforce supporting customers from coast to coast, TCS has consistently been recognized as a Top Employer by the Top Employers Institute, including a recent top ranking at the country level.\nTCS also sponsors 14 of the world's most prestigious marathons and endurance events, including the TCS Toronto Waterfront Marathon, reflecting its commitment to health, sustainability, and community empowerment.\nWe are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Kotlin-based backend development and hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure automation and Infrastructure Operations (InfraOps).\nThe ideal candidate will have a proven track record of building scalable backend services while enabling highly automated, cloud-native platforms through Infrastructure as Code practices.\nTechnical Skills\nExpert-level proficiency in Kotlin, with additional experience in Java (Spring Boot, Spring Security) and JavaScript/Node.js.\nGood years of backend software engineering experience designing and developing scalable, resilient, and secure applications.\nStrong experience building and maintaining REST APIs, Microservices, Event-Driven Architectures, and integration services.\nHands-on experience with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code (IaC), including provisioning and managing cloud resources.\nExperience with Infrastructure Operations (InfraOps) tools and practices, such as: Terraform Cloud/Enterprise Azure DevOps GitHub Actions Jenkins Ansible Kubernetes Helm ArgoCD or similar GitOps tools\nExperience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and containerized application deployment. Strong understanding of cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.\nExperience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.\nHands-on experience with JUnit, Cucumber, BDD, and automated testing frameworks.\nFamiliarity with observability and operational tooling such as logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.\nDevelopment Practices Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, GitOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles.\nExperience with Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery.\nAbility to collaborate across development, platform engineering, and infrastructure teams.\nExperience driving engineering best practices, code quality standards, and platform automation initiatives.\nAdditional Skills Experience designing secure, scalable cloud-native architectures.\nExposure to open-source technologies and cloud-native ecos ystems.\nAbility to evaluate emerging technologies and create proof-of-concepts to improve engineering productivity and platform reliability.\nStrong communication and mentoring skills, with experience supporting and guiding junior engineers.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Azure networking, security, and cloud governance.\nKnowledge of container security, secrets management, and infrastructure compliance practices.
