Our people make the difference.\nWe’re looking for a highly skilled Process Safety Engineer to lead process safety across our Building Systems UK site in Shotton. This is a critical role where you’ll drive safe, compliant, and efficient engineering operations while supporting plant integrity and business performance.\nYou’ll take ownership of process safety strategy and execution, ensuring all assets operate safely, meet legislative requirements, and continuously improve in line with business goals.\nWhat you will do\nAs the Process Safety Engineer you will lead and manage all process safety engineering activities across site operations including steel processing, roll forming, slitting, fabrication, and composite panels. You will ensure compliance with legal, statutory, and company safety standards (e.g. PUWER, LOLER, pressure systems, HAZOP/PHA)\nYou will also need to develop and maintain key safety systems, including:\nRisk Assessments (RAs)\nSafe Working Procedures (SWPs)\nPermit-to-Work systems\nIsolation and immobilisation procedures\nManagement of Change processes\nAs the Process Safety Engineer, you will manage contractor safety performance and ensure adherence to required standards alongside monitoring and controlling process safety and engineering budgets. You will maintain integrity and control of critical spare parts inventories whilst driving continuous improvement initiatives (e.g. TPM programmes).\nYou will support operational continuity through collaboration with Manufacturing and Logistics teams as well as coordinate and maintain the Process Safety System and Critical Plant Register. You will keep up to date with developments in plant design, technology, and safety practices\nWhat you will need\nTo be successful in this role you will be degree-qualified in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, ideally with a Chartered Engineer status.\nYou will also have the following experience:\nMinimum 5 years’ experience in process safety systems\nStrong knowledge of HAZOP, PHA, and process safety methodologies\nExperience with pressure systems, materials, chemicals, and related technologies\nDemonstrated leadership experience with the ability to influence and build relationships across functions\nStrong understanding of engineering and production technologies\nFamiliarity with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards\nExperience in managing budgets, capital expenditure, and contractor relationships\nIT proficiency including Microsoft Office, SAP/Stratix, and project management systems\nWe are also looking for the following skills and expertise:\nStrong leadership and people management capability\nExcellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills\nHigh attention to detail with a focus on safety and compliance\nAbility to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment\nStrong stakeholder engagement and communication skills\nCommitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence\nDemonstrable focus on Health, Safety & Environmental performance\nReady to make a difference?\nFor a full job description or if you’d like an informal discussion, please contact: \nPlease note: You may use AI tools to help prepare your application.
