Our people make the difference.\nWhat you will do:\nWe currently have an opportunity for an Electrical Section Engineer to join our Centralised Crane Maintenance Team in Port Talbot.\nIn this role, you will lead the electrical engineering function for production-critical crane assets, providing technical leadership to engineering and maintenance teams whilst ensuring the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the crane fleet. You will be responsible for developing maintenance strategies, maintaining engineering standards, managing asset performance, and driving continuous improvement in reliability, availability, and compliance of electrical, control, and automation systems.\nThe role requires close collaboration with manufacturing, planning, asset improvement, and contractor teams to ensure maintenance activities are aligned with operational priorities and long-term asset management objectives.\nKey Responsibilities\nEngineering Leadership & Asset Performance\nAct as the lead electrical engineer for production-critical crane assets.\nProvide technical leadership, coaching, and support to engineers, technicians, and maintenance teams.\nLead the management of electrical asset performance, driving improvements in reliability, availability, maintainability, and safety.\nProvide engineering expertise during complex breakdowns, major repairs, and significant plant events.\nSupport the development of engineering capability and promote engineering best practice across the organisation.\nDrive a strong safety culture and support the site's commitment to Zero Harm.\nMaintenance Strategy & Technical Governance\nDevelop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies aligned to business risk and operational requirements.\nUtilise reliability engineering principles to optimise maintenance effectiveness and asset performance.\nReview asset failures and maintenance trends, identifying opportunities to improve maintenance plans, inspection regimes, and maintenance standards.\nEnsure all engineering and maintenance activities comply with applicable legislation, TSUK engineering standards, and site Safe Working Procedures.\nDevelop, maintain, and approve engineering standards, maintenance specifications, Job Technical Descriptions (JTDs), and Safe Working Procedures (SWPs).\nSupport planning engineers in developing SAP maintenance plans, task lists, and work management processes.\nProvide technical leadership during Management of Change (MoC) activities, equipment modifications, and system upgrades.\nContinuous Improvement & Stakeholder Engagement\nLead root cause investigations into significant equipment failures and ensure sustainable corrective actions are implemented.\nIdentify and deliver opportunities to improve safety, reliability, maintenance effectiveness, energy efficiency, and cost performance.\nSupport refurbishment programmes, equipment upgrades, obsolescence management, and asset life-extension initiatives.\nWork collaboratively with manufacturing, planning, mechanical, asset improvement, and contractor teams to deliver business objectives.\nEnsure maintenance activities remain aligned with operational priorities while minimising disruption to production.\nPromote a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and knowledge sharing throughout the maintenance organisation.\nWhat you will need:\nWe are looking for an experienced Electrical Section Engineer with a strong background in heavy industrial or manufacturing environments. The successful candidate will have extensive knowledge of electrical systems, asset reliability, maintenance strategies and continuous improvement, with the ability to lead teams and deliver engineering projects safely and effectively.\nKey Requirements:\nDegree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Control & Instrumentation Engineering, or a related discipline.\nSignificant experience within a heavy industrial or manufacturing environment.\nStrong knowledge of electrical systems, motors, drives, PLCs, control systems and automation.\nExperience in asset management, reliability engineering, fault finding and continuous improvement methodologies.\nKnowledge of electrical standards, safe systems of work, risk assessments and engineering compliance.\nExperience using SAP or a similar Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).\nProven ability to lead engineers, technicians and contractors within a multidisciplinary environment.\nExperience delivering maintenance, improvement and capital projects from concept through to completion.\nExcellent communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.\nIOSH qualification and experience within crane maintenance environments would be advantageous.\nReady to make a difference?\nFor more information or for an informal discussion please contact: \nPlease note: You may use AI tools to help prepare your application.
