Assignments are designed to further develop the incumbent’s job knowledge and abilities. Applies Engineering principles in discipline of competency. Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities. Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project. Keeps supervisor informed of progress and coordinates with project management team to updates schedule/budget.\nResponsibilities\nPrepares basic to advanced specifications detailing performance requirements, specific components, design requirements, applicable design codes, and vendor drawing requirements.\nPrepares technical specifications for review and approval. Assists in the development of instrumentation design calculations and packages.\nVisits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements. Visits jobsites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.\nPrepares inquiry and purchase requisitions. Prepares bid tabulations on simple purchases. Reviews vendor drawings.\nDevelops a focus on least cost, safe design. Supervises design personnel. Actively involved in maintaining the schedule and budget of assigned projects.\nReviews/checks assignment completed by other engineers\nDevelop engineering manhour estimates for new projects.\nCreates project change orders.\nMeets company quality assurance requirements.\nSupports field assignments as required.\nMust be able to perform all the functions of the lower classifications.\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may periodically be required to travel to client jobsites, usually involving heavy industrial (chemical) production facilities and access all areas of the facility. Therefore, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; and the risk of electric shock. The noise level in workplace can be loud to moderate depending on assignment.
