In keeping with our Planet Passionate sustainability strategy, our mission is to accelerate a net zero emissions future built environment with the wellbeing of people and planet at its heart.\nAbout the role:\nWe are seeking an experienced Pre-Construction Project Planner to support the successful planning and delivery of construction projects from tender through to project commencement and beyond. The role involves developing, analysing, and managing detailed programme schedules using industry-standard planning software such as Asta PowerProject and Primavera.\nThe successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring projects are realistically planned, risks are identified early, and programmes are aligned with client and business objectives.\nKey Responsibilities:\nPre-Construction Planning\nDevelop detailed tender and pre-construction programmes using Asta PowerProject\nAnalyse drawings, specifications, and scope documents to build logical project sequences\nCollaborate with design, procurement, production, logistics and project teams for input on programme formation.\nDocumentation control of all technical and commercial bid documentation during project tender phase.\nSupport project managers during the project execution phase of projects\nWork closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, and pre-construction design team during bid stages \nSupport project managers during the project execution phase of projects\nProgramme Development & Management\nCreate baseline programmes including critical path analysis and key milestones\nIdentify risks, constraints, and opportunities within project plans\nCarry out programme sensitivity and what-if scenario analysis\nReview subcontractor and supplier programmes for alignment\nStakeholder Collaboration\n· Work closely with estimators, quantity surveyors, and pre-construction design team during bid stages\nSupport project managers during the project execution phase of projects\nParticipate in tender meetings, internal reviews, and client presentations\nLiaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programme accuracy\nReporting & Documentation\nPrepare programme reports and visual outputs (Gantt charts, phasing diagrams, etc.)\nEnsure planning documentation complies with client and contractual requirements\nMaintain clear and auditable programme records\nDocumentation control of all technical and commercial bid documentation during project tender phase.\nContinuous Improvement\nContribute to planning standards, templates, and best practices\nStay up to date with industry planning techniques and software advancements\nKey Requirements\nQualifications\nThird level degree preferred.\nExperience\nProven experience in a planning role within construction or civil engineering\nStrong pre-construction and tender-stage planning experience\nDemonstrated use of Asta PowerProject (essential)\nExperience with other planning tools (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) is desirable\nTechnical Skills\nStrong understanding of construction methodologies and sequencing\nExpertise in programme development, critical path analysis (CPA), and delay analysis\nAbility to interpret technical drawings and specifications\nProficiency in Excel and reporting tools\nSoft Skills\nExcellent analytical and problem-solving abilities\nStrong communication and presentation skills\nAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlines\nHigh attention to detail and organisational skills\nKey Competencies\nStrategic thinking and forward planning\nRisk identification and mitigation\nCollaboration and teamwork\nCommercial awareness\nTime management and prioritisation\nStay connected with us on LinkedIn for insights into life at Tate.\nTate is an equal-opportunity employer.
