Our Global Analytical & Material Science team provides the scientific insights and analytical expertise that enable product innovation, ingredient development, and business growth.\nThe Opportunity\nWe are seeking a Scientist, Analytical & Material Science to support research, innovation, and product development initiatives through analytical testing and material characterization. In this role, you will perform laboratory analyses, contribute to method development and validation activities, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to generate high-quality scientific data that supports project decision making.\nThis position is an excellent opportunity for an early-career scientist who is passionate about analytical chemistry, material science, and applying scientific principles to real-world product challenges.\nKey Responsibilities\nConduct routine analyses of ingredients and solutions, assessing properties such as purity, molecular weight, viscosity and thermal transitions while adhering to all safety, quality and regulatory guidelines.\nWorking knowledge of analytical chemistry with focus on separation science, compositional analysis and material science such as chromatography, spectroscopy, rheology, spectrometry and microscopy.\nAssist in the development, implementation, optimization, and validation of analytical methods to improve data quality, accuracy, and efficiency.\nCollaborate with R&D, Innovation, product development, and other cross-functional teams to ensure analytical deliverables support project objectives and timelines.\nMaintain accurate experimental records and documentation to ensure data integrity, traceability, and compliance with company standards.\nTroubleshoot routine laboratory instruments and methods and escalate complex issues as appropriate.\nSupport instrument qualification, maintenance, and acquisition activities when needed.\nContribute to technical reports, presentations, and scientific summaries, effectively communicating findings to internal stakeholders.\nPromote a safe, organized, and efficient laboratory environment.\nQualifications Required\nMaster's degree in Analytical Chemistry, Material Science, Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 0-3 years of relevant industry experience; or\nBachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline with 4-7 years of experience in the food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related industry.\nKnowledge of analytical chemistry principles and material characterization techniques.\nExperience with one or more analytical chemistry subdivisions such as chromatography, spectroscopy, microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, or mass spectrometry.\nStrong data analysis, problem-solving, and organizational skills.\nAbility to work independently while seeking guidance when appropriate.\nEffective written and verbal communication skills.\nPreferred\nExperience in food ingredient characterization and structure-function analysis.\nFamiliarity with method validation, statistical analysis, and laboratory information management systems.\nExperience working in a regulated laboratory environment.\nWhat Success Looks Like\nDelivers accurate, reliable, and timely analytical results.\nDemonstrates strong scientific rigor and attention to detail.\nEffectively collaborates across functions to support innovation and product development.\nContinuously develops technical expertise and contributes to improvements in analytical capabilities and laboratory practices.\nWhat we can offer you\nTate & Lyle complies with all local/state regulations requiring salary range transparency.
