Specifications are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.\nSUMMARY:\nThe BAS Engineer is responsible for the maintenance, upgrading and optimization of the building automation systems (BAS) that control and monitor a building’s mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to include heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC), lighting, and energy management. The BAS Engineer will manage and track all service contracts, projects and repairs to the BAS. The BAS Engineer will ensure the efficient operation and upkeep of these systems, contributing to energy savings, comfort, and safety for DOS building occupants.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:\nMonitor, maintain, and troubleshoot building automation systems controlling HVAC, lighting, and energy management to sustain reliable building operations.\nPerform system upgrades, software updates, and calibration of BAS controllers, sensors, and field devices to maintain optimal performance.\nManage and track all BAS related service contracts, projects, and repairs, coordinating with vendors and contractors as needed.\nDiagnose and resolve system malfunctions, alarms, and operational issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.\nDevelop and implement energy management strategies to reduce consumption and support building efficiency goals.\nMaintain accurate records of system configurations, maintenance activities, and repair histories.\nCollaborate with facilities staff, engineers, and DOS personnel to support building comfort, safety, and code compliance.\nEXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND LICENSURE\nBachelors of Science in related field\nMust be manufacturer trained on the Building Automation System(s) installed.\nTraining Certificates required\nMinimum 10 years of experience in BAS Engineering Services or facility operations\nActive Top Secret security clearance\nREASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:\nReasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the following essential functions.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Yes.\nWORK ENVIRONMENT:\nWork is performed indoors with some potential risks to safety and health hazards related to electronics.\nPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:\nMay require lifting up to 25 pounds.\nWORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:\nDoD Secret or higher security clearance, or the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
