This role owns the Quality Management System (QMS) and quality control processes end-to-end, driving continuous improvement in quality performance and building a culture of quality across the organization - from design and sourcing through manufacturing and final delivery.\nResponsibilities\nRegulatory & Industry Compliance\nMonitor furniture industry-specific standards and evolving regulatory requirements, assessing their impact on Tayco's products and processes.\nDevelop, implement, and maintain internal compliance policies and procedures aligned with current regulations and best practices.\nTrack changes in codes, standards, and legislation (e.g., environmental, sustainability etc.) and proactively update internal practices.\nProduct Certification Management\nOversee the certification process for products to ensure compliance with industry standards, including ANSI/BIFMA (e.g., BIFMA X5 series, ANSI/BIFMA E3), ISO 9001, and relevant sustainability certifications (e.g., CLEANAIR, FSC).\nAct as the primary point of contact with third-party certification bodies and testing laboratories, coordinating testing schedules, submissions, and audits.\nMaintain a master certification tracker and complete, audit-ready records of certifications, test reports, and supporting documentation.\nManage certification renewals and re-testing timelines to avoid lapses in product compliance.\nQuality Management System (QMS)\nMaintain and continuously improve the QMS (e.g., ISO 9001 framework), ensuring documentation, procedures, and records remain current and audit ready.\nEstablish and oversee QC processes across incoming materials, in-process manufacturing, and final inspection to ensure products meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements.\nDefine quality metrics and inspection criteria; conduct root cause analysis and drive corrective and preventive action (CAPA) on non-conformances.\nLead internal audits and support external/third-party audits, including preparation, execution, and follow-up on findings.\nContinuous Improvement & Quality Culture\nAnalyze quality data (defect rates, customer complaints, returns, scrap/rework) to identify trends and drive systemic improvements.\nLead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce variation and improve first-pass yield.\nPartner with Production, Engineering, Product Development, and Supply Chain to embed quality checkpoints throughout the product lifecycle.\nDeliver training and awareness programs to build quality ownership at all levels of the organization.\nDocumentation, Reporting & Stakeholder Management\nMaintain organized, audit-ready records of certifications, test results, inspection reports, and compliance documentation.\nPrepare and present quality/compliance performance reports, KPIs, and audit outcomes to senior leadership.\nManage customer and regulatory inquiries related to product compliance, certifications, and quality performance.\nLiaise with suppliers to ensure incoming materials and components meet required specifications and certification standards. \nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, Quality Management, Industrial Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).\n5+ years of experience in quality assurance/compliance, ideally within furniture manufacturing or a related industrial/manufacturing environment.\nWorking knowledge of BIFMA/ANSI standards, ISO 9001, and sustainability certification frameworks.\nCertified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Lean Six Sigma certification is an asset.\nExperience managing third-party audits and certification body relationships.\nStrong analytical and root-cause problem-solving skills.\nExcellent documentation, organizational, and audit-readiness discipline.\nEffective cross-functional communication and stakeholder management.\nAbility to translate regulatory requirements into practical operational processes.\nWorking conditions\nThe working conditions described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
